Mr. Ernest Crim III @mrcrim3.bsky.social · 14/01/2026On December 18, 2025, we came together to provide a Black History teach-in and holiday celebration for Julian High School students on Chicago's south side. Everything (my book, food, gifts) was provided for free for our kids. Where should I go teach next? 🤔 🎥 Ronald Veals Jr. 040

Mr. Ernest Crim III @mrcrim3.bsky.social · 18/11/2024What does this mean to you in this moment? 🤔 “I believe in pride of race and lineage and self: in pride of self so deep as to scorn injustice to other selves…” - Dr. W.E.B. DuBois #quoteoftheday #quote #blackhistory #ushistory #webdubois 2292
Mr. Ernest Crim III @mrcrim3.bsky.social · 18/11/2024Lincoln’s words at Gettysburg called for ‘government of the people, by the people, for the people.’ Black Americans have fought TIRELESSLY to make sure those words are true, which has impacted ALL people. Recent events prove to us that this fight is far from over. Are you ready to keep fighting? 080
Mr. Ernest Crim III @mrcrim3.bsky.social · 18/11/2024But backlash came hard, of course. Jim Crow laws, lynchings, and systemic racism tried to bury the ideals of Gettysburg. Yet, our people never stopped pushing, and that evidence is seen today as we continue to fight… 1130
Mr. Ernest Crim III @mrcrim3.bsky.social · 18/11/2024And after the war? Our people took ‘a new birth of freedom’ into their own hands by creating schools, building businesses, and fighting for the right to vote. The Reconstruction era was proof that the ideals of Lincoln’s address were were made iconic by our continued fight for liberation. 110
Mr. Ernest Crim III @mrcrim3.bsky.social · 18/11/2024Our freedom didn’t come solely from speeches or proclamations. Enslaved Africans freed themselves by escaping plantations, sabotaging Confederate efforts, and joining the fight. They turned the Civil War into a battle for emancipation. 110
Mr. Ernest Crim III @mrcrim3.bsky.social · 18/11/2024The Gettysburg Address came at a pivotal moment during the Civil War. By 1863, Black men were already fighting for their own freedom. Over 180,000 African Americans would serve in the Union Army by the war’s end—risking their lives to actualize the statement that ‘all men are created equal.’ 110
Mr. Ernest Crim III @mrcrim3.bsky.social · 18/11/2024160 years ago today, Lincoln stood on a battlefield in Gettysburg, PA and delivered his ‘Gettysburg Address’ as a “new birth of freedom.” But whose freedom? The promise of equality was far from a reality for Black Americans, who were still in chains. 🧵 #BlackHistory 1162
Mr. Ernest Crim III @mrcrim3.bsky.social · 18/11/2024Nah, but fa’ real #BlackSky has a nice ring to it. Somebody put it on a shirt 👕 😆 #AddtoBlackSky ✊🏾 0110

Mr. Ernest Crim III @mrcrim3.bsky.social · 17/11/2024Teaching your children history sometimes looks like playing classic songs from your childhood (and priorly) and telling them the backstories associated with them.
