Belated thoughts on the Aalto doc, pretty good bio of Aalto/Artek which tends to focus on the lives of Alvar, Aino and Elissa; the consequence being that the work / process of the atelier was secondary. Certainly not a hagiography, Alvar loses his lustre somewhat through watching… 7/10

Unsure - the ones of the same design have different names, Invershiel in Lenzie, and Dunluce in Dullatur. And the others in the grouping in Dalmuir (the rest now lost) were Ravenswood, Inanda and Uladh Tower… will take a look at the NLS maps tonight and see if it turns anything up!

Thomson liked a slab of Cyclopean masonry for a base course… I’m assuming in part due to the historic Greek precedent, and also to artificially raise his buildings up on a plinth for dramatic effect.

Recently we went down to Manchester for an office trip - one of the things that stood out were these inflatable artworks which are dotted throughout the city, wee moments of joy and weirdness - would love to see something similar in Glasgow!
