It seems that old IDE hard drive I still have still works (tested with an external HDD reader). Might need to reformat it to get rid of some stubborn old XP files though. Still might need a floppy drive though if I'm going to get anywhere with this.

Update on the dying HDD: It has become such a big problem to the PC working at all that I've now had to remove it. So now I'm down one 2 TB HDD. I got most of the hard to replace stuff off of it, but that still sucks.

I guess another thing I learnt about the motherboard from that PC is that the driver I found was for an optimal Creative soundchip... that I don't have. There's another on-board sound thing, but I guess it's probably not as good.

The AGP 8x card that won't work with this Tiny PC is an apparently rather odd MX440 card with 128MB of VRAM. It even has RCA and s-video out... you know, if I really wanted to hook it up to a TV for some reason.

A new tragedy has struck the project, that old graphics card I had in the loft turned out to be an AGP card and this will only take PCI cards (also AMR and PTI, but that's not helping). I guess there's the built in graphics chip (which may or may not have the optional 4MB video cache)

I guess, (in theory) if it can boot from a CD and that old IDE Hard drive I have still works, I could get it to install Windows 98 and boot up. But for that to go anywhere I'd first need to find a VGA monitor that isn't 1080p to actually see what I'm doing.

I should also add, that not only is the floppy drive gone (no idea why), but the part of the case that goes over it is also gone and taped over (wow, thanks Dad...)

The front of my old computer where the floppy drive (and the cover) should be. Instead there's an empty space with electrical tape covering the metal frame.

Rate my setup, there's a Pentium III, 256 MB RAM, a missing floppy drive, missing graphics card and missing hard drive... I'm sure it'll be fine!

A photo of the motherboard of my old Windows 98 Tiny PC I used years ago. Some parts are missing, so it can't do much at the moment. The total RAM is a guess due to only one stick having a label.

I managed to finally copy it off of that kind of unstable hard drive (works fine most of the time). Somehow the solution was to boot up the Windows XP VM and then run disk check and I guess that fixed something.

Since Fren turns 7 today, here's a thing I made with every 3D Fren I've made so far (and a few newer ones) ported over to Blender and crammed into a room together. Also Fren gets a cake. #Vargskelethor
