Here's a snail I saw while out hiking last weekend, while I'm at it. The keen-eyed observer can also see a small spider(?) on the blade of grass above the snail. #pnwhiking #hiking #snail #goblincore

Apparently BlueSky has a bit of learning to do. I spent a some time trying to make a post today, and despite there being file size limit on images & a limit on number of images per post, when I tried to make a post that exceeded these, it didn't warn me about either, had to search after failures 😑

So I'm in a kinda weird folk band, mostly doing covers, but we're doing some of the other singer's originals (working some of mine in too). Had our first official show on Saturday, house was pretty packed 8-10PM, people were dancing, very well received. #folk #weirdfolk #clowns

A musical project I'm part of got together to jam a couple weeks ago and I recorded it, it's a bit #folk and a bit weird (there's a Bloodhound Gang cover in there), we had fun, might play a show eventually! Features banjo, guitar, violin/viola, and vocals. soundcloud.com/plucky-folke...

Saw these two trilliums were growing right next to each other yesterday. Cool to see ends of the color spectrum represented (they start out white). #flowers #trillium #pnwhiking

Weird for "grunge" be on the cusp of a revival, except that it's filtered through 3 decades. Young bands describing themselves as grunge, when it's just alt rock. Grunge fashion, but it's more like a cross between goth/punk styles. No shade, cool to see, just weird from my vantage point. #grunge

Don't know how to get involved with GSUS? Here is a resource put together by a coalition member on ways to organize with us based on personality and involvement level. Remember: you don't have to sign the strike card to help out! We welcome any involvement level based on YOUR comfort.

A red table with four rows of text and one top title row. Title row 1 reads for the introverted activist and title row 2 reads for the extroverted activist. Title column on the left goes, from top to bottom, minimum involvement, easy involvement, medium involvement, and high involvement.

I did the thing. Swapped my banjo head from the OG white to a black one. Took a while, learned stuff (Washburn B8K-A seems to take an 11" medium crown head, FYI, but my high crown worked). Tone seems more mellow, less sharp. I like it. I think I set the intonation better too. #banjo #diyfolk

Things I wasn't expecting today: to have a fishmonger knock on my door and see if I was interested in buying fish. He was driving through the neighborhood, I guess he delivers fish, showed up while I was making lunch. I did not buy fish. #fishmonger #mongering #igotmonged

Cute interaction at Costco today. Walking down the aisle, I hear "Sir? Sir? ...Ma'am? ...They?", so I turn around and see a pair of boys, maybe 8 and 12, and the older one says "I really like your hair". I smiled and thanked him. #pride #trans #enby #lgbtq

I have two new songs included on this folk punk compilation that released today, "Plant a Fascist" and "Reformatted". It's a compilation of songs by and for trans punks, with proceeds going to benefit the Trans Lifeline Project. disastroustransgenderism.bandcamp.com #folkpunk #trans #queer #diymusic

The album art for the compilation "Disastrous Transgenderism", featuring 58 songs by trans punks, with proceeds going to the Trans Lifeline Project. It depicts a background of the trans pride colors, overlaid with an image of a circle with many arrow pointing outwards, and the names of the artists who have contributed listed on either side.

Hiking yesterday, saw this... maybe "chicken of the woods"? And then the other very small shroomy logmates in there too (this was all on a fallen tree that's been sawed to clear the path). #hiking #pnw #fungus #mushroom

We ran errands downtown today, I decked myself out in rainbows (t-shirt, kilt, gloves) to show I will not comply in advance. Bumped into a friend at the farmer's market, was asked if I want to play at Pride fest this year, so that's cool 😁 #lgbtq #pride #trans

Just got a ticket to see The Koffin Kats and The Last Gang at one of my favorite venues in town, a place where I myself perform music! We don't often get big names (shut up, they're big to me) there, should be an excellent show!

Experienced at queeraoke recently... heard Regulators by Warren G come on, except... this isn't Regulators? Didn't know it sampled a Michael McDonald song I've never heard. Then heard a Def Leppard song with 1/2 harsh guttural vocals and I was THERE for it! Might recruit her for a band. #queeraoke

My first time actually seeing hair ice/silk frost/ice wool (etc), a fairly rare phenomenon specific to a few locales on Earth. Bonus mushroom pic for fun. #pnw #hiking #frost #hairice #frostbeard #silkfrost #icewool

Unusual frost formation, evidently associated with specific fungus and fallen alder branches, known as: Hair Ice, Frost Beard, Ice Wool, Feather Frost, Silk Frost, or Cotton Candy Frost

A small, lone mushroom sprouting among forest floor growth.

Finally set up to play two of my synths at the same time, did some jamming last night. Roland Gaia SH-01 on top, Behringer Deepmind 12 on the bottom. Took the Gaia to the open mic, experienced anxiety so I only played for a few minutes (which I expected), next time will be better. #synth

Kiddo got a motorized hamster recently, came to me yesterday saying she wanted a maze for the hamster. Got out the glue gun and craft knife, and made a small one to test out ideas before we take the plunge into making a larger one (maze layout specified by the kiddo).

Bespoke corrugated dried tree pulp (fancy talk for "cardboard") maze designed for a little pink fuzzy hamster toy that rolls around and makes noises. Features such amenities as an "entrance" and an "egress".

I believe this is orange jelly/witch's butter, it's always fun to see the splash of orange out among all the other forest hues. #hiking #fungus

Suspected orange jelly/witch's butter fungus growing on a log, surrounded by moss and bark.

Playing with a child, instructions were "make something silly". My creation was deemed to be in accordance with specifications. I think it wants a hug, or perhaps your sanity? #potaterror #nightmarefuel

Plastic anthropomorphized potato with two sets of eyes (one where the nose should be), two sets of arms (one where the ears should be), a jaunty li'l cowboy hat (purple), blue feet, and a toothy grimace of existential terror.

Good news, everyone! While I ended up cancelling the show I was putting together for mid-December, I got an unexpected invite for the band to play in a local record shop (Lantern Records) Friday of next week 🤘 It may be streamed on their Instagram account.

Had jam session this past weekend, might end up forming a band with someone who's good at writing music/melodies but not good at lyrics (the inverse of my problem). Because, you know, I'm just not in enough bands yet... And I, uh, hope y'all don't mind more mushroom pics. #mushrooms #pnw #hiking

Still a relative newcomer to the synth/keys world, I made this track yesterday and I'm pleased with how it turned out: soundcloud.com/user-2797687... Used a Yamaha Reface DX & Arturia KeyLab and Augmented Strings. Captured the audio live as it was played with a Zoom recorder. #synth #music

The hostess of the comedy open mic got cold feet (it was the debut of that open mic night, we hadn't rehearsed, and she's already prone to anxiety). I said no sweat, and we're planning a rehearsal before next month! Jam session tonight, and rehearsal with my friend's band on Thursday.

Well, here I am on Bluesky. Just a musician based out of Olympia, WA. Tonight I'll be providing mood music during an open mic stand-up comedy night, just me and a Yamaha synthesizer. Will be my first time doing so, and I'm barely competent for the task! :D
