I need this as a comic page that I can hang on my wall.

Fair note: I just want to try it. I can get it in 12 packs, or could originally, but I don't want to buy a 12 pack and then hate it and be stuck with it so I'm looking for a 20 ounce. I know they exist, but apparently nowhere in Iowa.

I love how the autoplay on Youtube feeds me basically nothing but stuff I've already watched interspersed with content that has very little to do with what it is I'm watching instead of feeding me more unwatched stuff from the person I was watching to begin with. What the fuck are we even doing?

I find it very weird that if you give me a math problem I find it hard to do, but put it in the guise of a sewing or knitting project and I will amaze you with my ability to do the most ridiculous bullshit you've ever seen.

I think what really grinds my gears about this is that they could have given money to each state to do a coordinated set of weekend events that more people could have attended and instead they spent shit tons of money to create something worse than your county state fair.

I was also looking for something with a stainless soleplate and a longer heel shutoff time since sometimes I batch sew and it's nice to have the iron stay hot. I'll update in the coming days as I have multiple things to work on, but initial impressions are good.

When's the best time to get a new iron? Hottest week of the year so far. Yep. Perfect timing. Then again, if you sew it really doesn't matter: you press your damn seams. I got a Proctor|Silex this time. It was the only iron I could find that didn't cost the earth and had a 3 year limited warranty.

Oh it's worse than that. He's not even a gamer. He's a wannabe who can't handle the fact that he's *not* a gamer and so pays people to play games for him. It's just another thing he pays others to do and takes credit for.

The only thing I have to say on 'use easier words' discourse: use a fucking dictionary. That's what they're there for. It's even easier now as you don't even have to get a fucking book off the shelf: just type it into your damn phone. It'll even tell you how to pronounce it.

You realize that we can do both, right? And that no one is saying that emissions shouldn't be cut. Cutting emissions without rebuilding ecosystems isn't going to solve anything.

#cybercrime #cybersecurity #captcha #malware As a heads up, even though I doubt anyone will see this: hacked website spoofing Cloudflare human check copies malicious run command to your clipboard and directs you to run it. Cloudflare won't do this. Not one I've seen before. Anyone else?

I am really starting to feel like social media has drastically reduced what people believe is too much to read, and this is one of the major causes of *waves hands*

Pressing. It's pressing. It's always pressing. SO MUCH PRESSING.

MoxieGrrl @moxiegrrl.myatproto.social · 18/06/2026
What we need is a community where people who like to do the cutting and the pressing can meet people who like to do the sewing and can therefore get outfits for both people doing the things they want to do. :D

This is why it's sometimes fun to learn to do things yourself. You can then put in the labor of love it requires to create what you really want when it would be otherwise unattainable.

But I've learned that gradually building the color on the yarn VS mixing it in one go beforehand creates a much more multifaceted and interesting finished color. The problem is that it's not a commercially viable technique unless you want yarn to cost $50-$60 per skein. It's a lot of work.

I threw some red brown and golden yellow (1/4 tsp and 1/16 tsp respectively) on yesterday and let that go, and now I'm soaking the yarn again to go for another 1/4 tsp red brown and 1/16th magenta. And, yes, this is slow. Very slow. It's almost just a wash over the original color each time.

So I occasionally dye yarn. Just for myself, generally. So I'm trying to do that while dealing with feeling like shit because I can't do nothing anymore. And I'm trying to get some Drops Flora in Caramel to be less light caramel and more dark caramel, and it's going...well, it's going.

This brought to you by another package of Amylu's roasted garlic and asiago chicken sausages that had mostly no cheese and one that was basically all cheese on one end.

MoxieGrrl @moxiegrrl.myatproto.social · 18/06/2026
When you can't baby the content of each and every sausage, using smaller bits means that the mix will be more homogenous and less likely to have all the cheese in only some and not all the mix.

MoxieGrrl @moxiegrrl.myatproto.social · 18/06/2026
Dear commercial brat makers: if you put cheese in your sausages, put SMALL BITS. Larger bits of cheese are more satisfying to bite into, but I'm tired of getting sausages with no cheese or sausages with all the cheese on one end because of how they're made.

This type of thing is happening and has always happened. It just sucks for them that they don't have the access to the web that we did. Decent free web hosting has become a thing of the past.

Finally had a Chiaogoo cable break on me tonight. It had a good almost 14 year run as it was one of the originals from the original full set of interchangeables they released. I can't exactly be mad at that run. (And I have spares.)

I love living in a time where paying more money won't necessarily get you better quality. I love that for us. And yes, this is still about the iron.

I hate stretching and sewing the elastic. I much prefer doing an elastic casing. That and the hem on the bottom was all they needed. So I did the thing. I modified the pattern for myself going forward, though, to have a casing.

I just finished a pair of pajama pants that has been in my shit pile for a couple of years because I pulled the shirt out and was like "fuck this I need these pants". They are the shittiest pair of pants I've literally ever made, but they serve their function and won't leave the house.

Do the thing. The only way you can learn how to do things is doing them. Use Youtube if you want to learn how to do something. Find a real person to teach you. Stop relying on machines to do the things you want to do and *do the thing*. It is more valuable to do it badly than not at all.

Taking your time, enjoying the process, methodically working the steps. You have to start at the beginning to get a finished product you're proud of. So start. Use the fabric, the yarn, the markers, the paints, the pencils, the pens. The supplies are there to become what you want them to be.

MoxieGrrl @moxiegrrl.myatproto.social · 04/06/2026
It took me hours to make. The cutting would take the same amount of time because I'm always slow and methodical with that, but I'm a lot faster at sewing basic seams now. I'd likely finish it by hand just because I like to instead of doing the hem, armholes, and neck by machine.

MoxieGrrl @moxiegrrl.myatproto.social · 04/06/2026
The hem is wonky. The binding at the armholes and the neck pulls a bit. I seamed the back to use less fabric and that seam is a bit wonky, too. There's no pattern matching; it's a beautiful floral linen in aqua blue with green leaves and white flowers. There's a rust stain on the front.

Good things are worth doing badly. I'm sitting in one of the first things I ever sewed. It is too large now, and stained, but it's linen so...nightgown now. It started life as a sundress. It will end life as towels. This is its midlife: helping midlife-me sleep comfortably.

When I feel like crap I start a new knitting project. This is going to be a sweater when it grows up. It's going to be a while. I'm really rusty at lace.
A photo of rust colored yarn in a lace and cable pattern bunched up on a circular knitting needle sitting on a laptop keyboard.

I'll switch when they offer a plan that doesn't include the assistant at all. With opt in but the same charges regardless, those of us who don't use it are subsidizing those who do.

Make it so they can't record what they see. That's the solution I'd like to see. They don't actually need to record anything to work for this. It definitely doesn't need to go back to a SERVER.

I also feel like people are not discussing enough that part of the problem is that the schools weren't in any way prepared to switch to an online learning solution due to underfunding and lack of pandemic emergency preparedness *at all*. We're too busy preparing for school shootings to do that.
