Which leads me to think there’s something fundamentally flawed in the way I approach character illustrations that I manage to sidestep entirely when drawing TADC stuff.

I find this extremely vexing because I was trying to draw a bday pic for a character from a different show I really really love, and I found myself getting stuck and bored while working on it. (The image remains incomplete.)

Today I am haunted by a single question: what makes drawing TADC characters more appealing to me than other media I enjoy

As an analytical aside, I take this to mean Jax was an internet-addicted piece of shit. We kinda already know this from Goose’s asks (confirmed 4chan lurker 💀) but I think this is the first time it’s being demonstrated in the show’s animated media. (I consider the 4th wall stuff Jax loser behavior.)

I saw some non-EN speakers trying to dissect Jax’s “chat” line and the explanation I can provide is basically - “chat” is a term video game livestreamers use to refer to their audience. It’s equivalent to “you guys” / “you all” but internet poisoned. Jax saying it also ties into his 4th wall-isms.

Jax *pointing at audience*: What do YOU the VIEWERS think it is?

Throwing himself on the ground just to get the upper hand…..He’s shameless in all the worst ways. A real piece of work.

Jax throwing himself on the ground with Pomni, on his back, looking surprised.

I will cherish this image always

“should we put her down, chat?” he’s so cringe. 😭 petition to give Jax the old yeller treatment.

Digital drawing of Manager Gangle and Pomni (out of uniform). Gangle holds up a silver name tag as Pomni nervously looks away. They're drawn to resemble the art style of 4 and X from Battle for BFDI. Pomni has been compressed to better fit X's silhouette.

realized i didn't post the sketches/warm-ups i did for this here #MyArt #TADC #Jax

3 panel comic sketch of stupid sauce jax and zooble
1 - Zooble: Slacking off already? Don't yell at me when Caine punishes you. (This guy....)
Jax: *stares*
2 - Zooble: What?
Jax: *stares*
3- Jax grabs Zooble and Zooble looks visibly annoyed.

A drawing of stupid sauce Jax sitting across from Gummigoo looking unhappy.
Jax: I don't think my friends like me.
Gummigoo (to Jax): Is that so?
Gummigoo (to self): I'm never eating here again.
Jax: Yeah, I threw one of my friends in the deep fryer and she said she hates me.....
Gummigoo (to self): DEFINITELY never eating here again.

stupid sauce notes (non-comprehensive) 1/5/25: Ragatha notes: - boneless -looks openly bored + sad (versus prev eps where most 'negative' facial expressions/states are reactions to external stimuli (jax head doodle)) -> aka NOT MASKING -sauce doesn't make her happy but tears down cognitive barriers -inhibition decreased -stream of consciousness talk - she's just saying the first thing that comes to mind. -does not care. sober and sauced ragatha doodles. then page transitions to stupid sauce jax drawings with the following comments: -dialated pupils (don't use squares, keep gaze unfocused) - i'm gonna attack him - i'm not 100% of how ear position reflects his internal state (like Ragatha he seems to monitor himself closely) so I can't think of a situation that would warrant his ears looking like this (you know besides it being funny) -looks like he has a black eye here (oops) - i drw a bunch of hypothetical stupid sauce Jaxes as warm-ups but they all look too cute, sad, and present (ideally I think he should look shitblasted and mindless).

In the past I’ve peeled myself away from Jax type (annoying guy) characters even though I liked them bc I was self conscious about it. I think Jax might be the only instance where I didn’t reel myself in and hghghfhfhfhfgfhfhfhfhdhdhdhdjhdhdhdhsjdhdhdhsjdhshajfj
