What is Remembered Lives

Tuesday October 20 at 7 p.m. eastern

Queer Death Salon is a virtual community space for all 2SLGBTQIA+ people to come together to discuss death, dying and grief. It is a facilitated drop-in discussion space, with the purpose of building connection, skill, and resources for 2SLGBTQIA+ people navigating end of life in our personal lives and in our communities.

You are invited into an experiential gathering to honour y/our beloveds who have passed, sending a thread forward to y/our queer descendants and anchoring into y/our current aliveness.

With ritualized practices, a guided meditation and space for sharing, this QDS is held near many celebrations of death such as Samhain, All Souls Day, Dia de los Muertos, Hallowe’en.

It is also the time of year when death is all around, the land begins to rest for winter before composting for spring. So, let’s follow that cycle of birth-alive-death-birth…..

Everything is optional and there will be multiple ways to engage, including listening/witnessing.

Sharon Pink (she/her) is a portuguese / polish queer leatherFemme witch who lives her time on the territories of the Squamish, Musqueam, Tsleil Waututh and Stó꞉lō peoples.

Teeth Become Weapons: Trans Grief and Rage

Tuesday February 17 at 7 p.m. EST

Our bodies, lives, and very beings are increasingly politicized.
Our stories and histories are flattened, made palatable for the sake of survival.
Our unique grief becomes increasingly buried and unheard, unshared.

What makes this grief unique?
What do we grieve?
How does that grief affect us?
What prevents us from engaging with that grief?
How does our grief connect us and bring us together?

Queer Death Salon is a community space for all 2SLGBTQIA+ people to come together to discuss death, dying and grief. It is a facilitated drop-in discussion space, with the purpose of building connection, skill, and resources for 2SLGBTQIA+ people navigating end of life in our personal lives and in our communities.

Guest Facilitator Imogen Reid is the last of the feral trans women, a proud dirtbag, degenerate, and fuck up. She is a harm reduction advocate and educator, a former founding member of Communities Organizing for Harm Reduction, one of the first organized groups in Ottawa doing harm reduction before there were any safe sites.
Imogen is a recovering drug addict, survivor, fighter, activist, shoplifter, parent, story teller, and the holder of the memories of her dead.
She is a visual artist, photographer, shitty punk musician, and author whose work explores themes of bodies, gender, queer desire, poverty, trauma, drugs/addiction and her own very weird life on this hell world we call home.

Participants are encouraged to bring their own questions, stories, and complexities to share.

Automatic closed captioning is enabled for the zoom session. Follow the link in bio for more information about Imogen, on format and accessibility, and to get the zoom link.

Write Your Grief
Tuesday January 13 at 7 p.m. EST

Participants will be led through a short meditation/reiki offering to ground and center in the space, followed by some intentional and prompted writing time, where we’ll pick a source of grief, or grief itself, and write letters. There will be optional time for sharing about the experience itself or what you’ve written and some additional prompts for continued writing practice. Participants are also invited to submit completed letters to a queer grief zine for publication.

It is a facilitated drop-in discussion space, with the purpose of building connection, skill, and resources for 2SLGBTQIA+ people navigating end of life in our personal lives and in our communities.

Guest Facilitator Melissa Delizia, MSW, LSW, DSW (she/they) is a writer, witch, social worker, educator, death doula, and Reiki Master Teacher whose work lives at the intersection of sacred care, social justice, and transformative education. She is the foreground to green leather texture background with event information all around her.

Psychic Death and Transitions
Tuesday December 16 at 7 p.m. EST

Badly Licked Bear loves death. As a transsexual person, as an Indigenous person, as an adoption survivor, as someone who works with the knowledge of the body and of bodies, death is a constant companion in her work.

Participants will be held in exploring psychic deaths, what it means to be “once dead and twice born,” and how our sexuality often skirts, confronts, plays with, or outright embraces death.
What does it mean to bring death and the process of death consciously into one’s daily life and practices?

Grieving Medically Assisted Deaths

Tuesday November 18 at 7 p.m. EST

Medically assisted death is becoming more common globally, and yet there are few places to share about this experience. Join us as we discuss our experience and share about our loved ones who chose medically assisted death at the end of their lives.

Some questions to consider:

How did you support or interact with the decision making around this choice?
What opportunities has this choice opened up?
How did this compare to other deaths you’ve experienced?
How does it feel to know ahead of time when a loved one will die?

Let’s gather and engage with our questions and feelings about:

sex after the death of a loved one.
the disenfranchised grief of polyamorous and kinky relational loss.
how pleasure and erotic energy can support our mourning.
changes in desire as death approaches for ourselves or a loved one.
cultural expectations of how a widow should act and our internalized stories about that.
anything sex/pleasure and bereavement related. No question is too taboo.

Jess will invite folks to participate in embodiment exercises, freewrite and consider the ways they want to be in relationship to their sexual expression within their (anticipatory) grief.

Jess DeVries is a queer somatic sex coach and grief worker. She primarily serves the queer/trans community supporting folks in reclaiming body autonomy and to inspire curiosity about pleasure and sexual expression, guiding folks to define and pursue pleasure on their own terms. She is a grief advocate who regularly facilitates spaces for people to grieve, inviting the wisdom of the body to guide the grief process.

It has been so long since I’ve taken any pervy photos. Truly these times have chilled my desire to be horny on the Internet. Which is a deep loss. See alt text.
Recently I took my boy to a secluded off grid cabin. We were only clothed long enough to make a game of removing clothes.

This is an image of him standing and facing away from the camera. His white y-front undies have been sliced away, exposing his luscious butt.

My ankh flogger by Talisman Leather is resting over his shoulder while I take a break to enjoy the view.

A circular work of stained glass depicts a t-boy’s front hole getting stuffed with stainless steel chain. The same chain I’ve had in him,my muse, previously. The wire hanger expands on the shape of his torso , chest scars, nipples, and belly button. The chain is free-moving for that realistic feel.
