Reposted by The Athiest AtheistThe Athiest Atheist @mostathy.bsky.social · 14/08/2025I know it's trendy among Christians and the more sanctimonious atheists to call vocal ("new"/"reddit") atheists "religious" because, well, we're vocal. We've ascribed some degree of importance and taken an interest in atheism. But it's not "a religion" in the sense, you know, RELIGION is. 011 0
The Athiest Atheist @mostathy.bsky.social · 07/11/2025And ultimately, most atheists don't care if someone believes in a god—IF that belief a) makes them a good person and b) is kept to themselves, not pushed on others and definitely not used as a threat. Let us "know you by your fruits," i.e. being a good person, not by proselytizing. 010 0
The Athiest Atheist @mostathy.bsky.social · 07/11/2025One of the biggest things theists need to understand about atheism is that it's a response to the claims of theism. I think most nonbelievers would be perfectly happy to keep their non-belief to themselves if believers would do the same. But unfortunately, proselytizing is a part of most religions. 142 0
The Athiest Atheist @mostathy.bsky.social · 07/11/2025Ahh yes, I do remember that particular line of questioning, but seeing it from someone else... a Canadian, maybe? I think there was a flag in their name. But it is a simple and easy test for any god—that no believer can actually pass. Bluesky definitely tends to be a bit of an echo chamber. 000 0
The Athiest Atheist @mostathy.bsky.social · 07/11/2025🤔 I don't remember those "three questions," but glad I could be a resource for you on your journey. Definitely a different vibe here... atheists are perfectly fine as long as they're fervent supporters of Jesus and his True Followers and don't, y'know, talk about atheism. 000 0

The Athiest Atheist @mostathy.bsky.social · 04/11/2025Ah yes, I've been down that rabbit hole, like how no ✝️ ever took the Biblical creation myth seriously... They knew it was just a story but they had to have the story cuz they didn't have science yet. And look, if you stand far enough away and squint just right, it's just like science found out! 🙄 110 0
The Athiest Atheist @mostathy.bsky.social · 04/11/2025You don't even have to read the whole book. Just take the Jesus part, the gospels, and try to make one coherent timeline of the most important person in Christianity's life, teachings, and death/resurrection. 120 0

The Athiest Atheist @mostathy.bsky.social · 04/11/2025But, of course, some Christians will chime in to tell you how wrong you are because that's not what their sect teaches... then other Christians will jump in to say those Christians are wrong—or at least "misinterpreting" whatever passage. Almost like the Bible can be whatever the reader wants. 020 0

The Athiest Atheist @mostathy.bsky.social · 03/11/2025Don't have a magical piece of cloth? The Athiest Atheist @mostathy.bsky.social · 31/10/2025Hey, so for the several of you who follow me who actually seem to take an interest in what I have to say, I'm going to be transitioning to a new account. I'll still be including my poignant insights about atheism, but under the umbrella of my autism. I'll probably keep this for atheist memes. 120 0
The Athiest Atheist @mostathy.bsky.social · 26/10/2025Here I thought a sign of any True Believer who follows Jesus is their ability to cast out demons, which were still a big problem back in Jesus' time. And if God—who as I've heard is all powerful—really does answer prayers, why can't a layperson be like "Dear God, please exorcise this demon. Amen."? 000 0
The Athiest Atheist @mostathy.bsky.social · 26/10/2025Apparently the Catholic Church has a monopoly on exorcism. You need to have the right old men saying the right magic words with a magic potion and, of course, a big silver (or gold?) T. And it can still be really hard to summon God to help kick that pesky demon back to hell. 100 0
The Athiest Atheist @mostathy.bsky.social · 26/10/2025And who believes in stuff like demons mucking about on earth? The religious. This stuff is prescientific superstition. Autistics, epileptics, schizophrenics... phenomena like sleep paralysis... not to mention simple human malice, making accusations. But demons/possession? Call a priest! 100 0
The Athiest Atheist @mostathy.bsky.social · 26/10/2025And that's only after they—and their bigger, meaner cousins, demons—have been invited in, kind of like vampires. Demons apparently can't just randomly possess someone. You've got to play with a Ouija board or listen to heavy metal or something. It also helps if you've grown up believing in 👻/👹. 100 0
The Athiest Atheist @mostathy.bsky.social · 26/10/2025I will say, too, I feel a little bad for ghosts and their ghostly powers... Imagine being able to flicker lights and bang doors but only able to communicate by having people move a piece of plastic over a piece of cardboard to say "yes/no" and maybe spell out their name. 100 0
The Athiest Atheist @mostathy.bsky.social · 26/10/2025Then, more importantly, why are ghosts always dressed? Does ghost magic somehow involve imprinting/absorbing corporeal garments onto their ghostly forms? And why is Victorian clothing so overrepresented? No one sees ghosts in tights and pantaloons—or in bell bottoms. 100 0
The Athiest Atheist @mostathy.bsky.social · 26/10/2025And if a traumatic death with unfinished business is all it takes to enter ghost society, shouldn't children's hospitals be overrun with poor little ghostly tykes? Like here in Chicago, the Valentine's Day Massacre alley is totes haunted, but the nearby condos formerly a children's hospital? 🤷♂️ 100 0
The Athiest Atheist @mostathy.bsky.social · 26/10/2025As we're into Spooky Season, I have to wonder... why are cemeteries (allegedly) haunted? I thought ghosts were stuck where they died—traumatically, of course, with unfinished business—forced by Ghost Code to haunt that spot. Do they get to retire to the cemetery? Or that for non-traumatic deaths? 111 0
