Picture of a partially completed linoleum block with the previous post's design transferred onto it. The block is stained light blue and the areas that have been carved away are light pink. Scraps of carved lino material are on the tray around it.

Getting back into it and going to try to catch up this week! #repostyourart day 14 - yummy c: I haven't drawn any food in a while but a few years back I did some pieces of art of some of my favorite foods and I really enjoyed making them c: I should try drawing food again sometime!

#repostyourart day 13- artist! here's a selfie from a couple years ago, for the past few years I've volunteered as a face painter at a local nature festival and it's always a great time. I love seeing kids' faces light up when they see the result!

#repostyourart day 12 - Cozy 🧡 before I was treated for depression it was important for me to have mood trackers every month, and I would try to make cute themes like this one. Now that I don't need to, I've switched to doing 'covers' for each month, like the hummingbird moth from day 3!

#repostyourart day 10 - pencil! I don't do a lot of colored pencil work just because it takes longer than I usually have the patience for, but here's a piece I did a few years back of my cat Juniper. It was fun despite taking a LOT of time to layer all that color in!
Colored pencil drawing of a longhair brown tabby cat with very flowing, stylized fur and areas of warm yellowish color through her chest and paws. Behind her are a few springs of juniper with berries on them.

Day 9 #repostyourart - light! Here's a collection of lit jack-o-lanterns I've designed and carved in previous years :) I love carving intricate designs but haven't had the time to do it the past couple of years, I have to put aside some dedicated time for it this fall!

#repostyourart day 8 - autumn 🧡 This is one part of a larger piece that I created for our annual Halloween party invitations in 2024! My wife usually comes up with a fun seasonal poem and a clever way to structure the invitations, and I usually collaborate on imagery and/or assembly.
Digital illustration in orange, black, purple, and green with some halftone effect, of two humanoid characters. They both have jack-o-lantern heads with broad smiles carved into them. On the right is a taller, larger character wearing overalls and boots, holding out a lantern. In front of them is a character dressed up in a black turtleneck wearing paw shaped gloves, a black mask, and a tail, waving at the viewer.

#repostyourart day 6 - Bird! I have so many potential options for this prompt since birds are some of my most common subjects. This is a marker/gouache piece from last year, my first time working with alcohol markers. I learned a lot!

Oop I fell behind :') #repostyourart day 5, Mountain - Manido Falls in the Porcupine Mountains of upper MI. I've been doing plein-aire paintings of waterfalls for years now, and I always look forward to spending a few hours trying to capture the textures and movement of the water over the rocks.

A bit off schedule, but I wanted to make sure to get out a post for #repostyourart day 3: Spring! I made this last year as a bullet journal cover, featuring some of my favorite spring ephemerals (details in alt text) and the Clearwing Snowberry moth. I can't wait to see these blooms again 💚

Big Little World, previously Bugs That Craw, is a collaborative art zine about appreciating all of Earth's organisms, big and small, and the diversity of different ecosystems.
What can I submit?
Any piece of art or writing that pertains to bogs and wetland ecosystems! Previous editions have featured primarily visual art, but all forms of human-made art can be submitted! Will l get my own physical copy?
While we'd love to get a physical copy out to all participants for free, this isn't always feasible; some of the previous editions have been entirely funded and produced by Elliot (@honeymush) and it ends up costing quite a bit to print and mail copies to each participant. Whether or not we can send out free copies this time will be announced at a later date. Regardless, all participants WILL receive free access to both the digital zine AND a printable version that artists are free to print and distribute themselves!
will I retain the rights to my work?
You are free to publish and reproduce your own work outside of the zine- We ask that you wait to publish your submission piece until closer to the zine's release in order to help promote the project's release!

I've been a bit too busy to make much lately which is bumming me out but here are some native plants I've seen in the past couple of weeks
Bloodroot - White flower with yellow center framed by a large many-lobed leafSharp-lobed hepatica - violet colored flower with white center held on a thin fuzzy stem, blurry somewhat pointed leaves in the backgroundWood poppy - golden colored flower with four wide, ruffled petals. More flower buds in the background, many green leaves with shallow lobes at the base of the plantJack-in-the-pulpit - very unusual vase-shaped light green flower made from a single bract (leaf) that wraps around itself to form a tall cylinder coming off of the stem that then opens and flares at the top, the tip of the bract gently folding over the opening of the 'vase.' Peeking over the inner edge of the vase is a single thick green structure called a spadix, which stands against rich burgundy stripes on the inner side of the bract.
