My imagination draws lewd shapes with the slightest suggestions… 😅🤷‍♂️ @photography@fedigroups.social @nature@fedigroups.social #Cascadia #PNW #Photography #Nature #Forest #Plants #Trees #Ferns #Suggestive
Low-angle view up from a shaded streambed into dense green canopy. A tall, splintered length of weathered deadwood leans diagonally at right, its grain exposed and base frayed among roots. Behind it rises a massive moss-covered conifer trunk with thick limbs draped in lichen. Bright green leaves fill the upper frame, a few turning yellow and orange near the top. Sword ferns crowd the dark foreground bank, and pale sky shows through gaps above.Wide view along a dry, gravel-strewn streambed edged by lush forest. A long, cracked log lies across the rocks in the foreground, mossy and crossed by thin bare branches. Grey and tan stones are scattered with fallen orange leaves. At left, a steep eroded bank of exposed roots sends two large pieces of weathered deadwood jutting upward at a steep diagonal. Dense green foliage fills the background beneath a bright, overcast sky.

A neighbor tells me that he's lived here since he was a child, and in all that time the creek only started going dry a few summers ago 😢 It was cool, though, to walk up the creek a ways to see parts of the forest the water had kept from me […] [Original post on social.mossmelomind.com]
A forest stream bed, currently dry, seen from ground level. The channel floor is packed with smooth grey and blue-grey river cobbles and pebbles, scattered with fallen yellow, orange, and brown leaves, plus a few thin bare twigs lying across the stones. On the left, a thick fallen log angles diagonally into the frame from the lower-left corner, its bark stripped to pale weathered wood and heavily carpeted in bright green moss along its upper surface, with bare branch stubs protruding. Behind it, a much larger dead log spans the channel horizontally, its deeply cracked, grey-brown wood bridging the whole width and forming a low arch over the dry bed. Beneath and behind that trunk, a darker, wet-looking log lies partly buried in the gravel, with several broken branches sticking up at angles. Beyond the logs, the bed continues into the distance where a small patch of water or damp ground is faintly visible among the stones. Both banks rise steeply and are crowded with dense green vegetation: sword ferns and moss-covered trunks on the left, leafy shrubs and saplings on the right. Above, a canopy of bright green foliage frames a narrow strip of pale, overcast white sky. Soft, diffuse daylight; no shadows. Vertical composition, wide-angle view from very low to the ground.A close, low-angle view of a dry forest stream bed choked with grey river rock. The foreground is a broad expanse of rounded cobbles and gravel dotted with scattered yellow and tan autumn leaves and a few small dry sticks. Dominating the middle of the frame are two massive fallen tree trunks lying roughly parallel, spanning the channel from left to right. The nearer trunk crosses the upper-left portion diagonally; both are stripped of bark, showing pale, silvered, deeply checked and splintered grain, with patches of green moss growing along their tops. Together they form a rough, irregular archway framing the view downstream. A broken, angled branch stub rises from the near trunk near the centre-right, and thinner bare branches splay outward from the logs' ends. Underneath the arch, another dark, waterlogged log rests on the gravel, with a curved root or branch hooking upward from it. Through the gap beneath the trunks, the dry bed continues into the distance, narrowing between banks of vivid green grass and low shrubs. Dense forest fills both sides: conifer branches and ferns on the left, layered green foliage on the right, with hints of yellowing leaves suggesting early autumn. Overhead, bright green canopy partially covers a flat, overcast white sky. Even, shadowless light; slightly fisheye-like wide-angle distortion. Horizontal composition.

Warm colors among the greenery 🧡💛💚 @photography@fedigroups.social @nature@fedigroups.social #Cascadia #PNW #Photography #Nature #Plants #Trees
A close-up photograph of spruce tree branches covered in vibrant green needles. The needles are short, sharp, and densely packed along slender brown stems that radiate outward. At the center of the image, a cluster of needles shows signs of discoloration — some have turned yellowish-green while others are reddish-brown, suggesting natural seasonal change or possible stress. The background is softly blurred, revealing hints of additional green foliage, which emphasizes the detailed texture of the foreground needles. The lighting appears natural and diffused, highlighting the glossy surface of the healthy needles and the subtle variations in color across the branch.

First time seeing a clutch of slug eggs in person 👀 @photography@fedigroups.social @nature@fedigroups.social #Cascadia #PNW #Photography #Nature #Fauna #Animals #Gastropods #Slugs #Eggs
A close-up photograph shows a cluster of small, translucent white slug eggs nestled in garden mulch. The eggs are round, glossy, and tightly packed together, resembling tiny pearls or beads. They rest among brown, fibrous organic material—shredded leaves, straw, and soil—with scattered bits of green grass blades nearby. Some eggs have specks of dirt clinging to their surfaces. The lighting is natural and bright, highlighting the delicate texture and semi-transparent quality of the eggs against the rough, earthy background. This image captures the hidden reproductive stage of slugs in a garden setting.

The Sentinel of Magic Beach 1 @photography@fedigroups.social @nature@fedigroups.social #Cascadia #PNW #Photography #Nature #Forest #Plants #Trees
A towering ancient tree dominates the center of a lush temperate rainforest. Its massive trunk is deeply furrowed with vertical grooves, showing signs of age and weathering—some sections appear hollowed or split, revealing lighter inner wood. Moss and lichen cling to the base and lower trunk, blending into the dense green undergrowth of ferns, shrubs, and saplings. Surrounding the giant are tall coniferous trees with needle-like foliage, their branches forming a thick canopy overhead that filters soft, diffused daylight. The forest floor is rich with vegetation, creating a sense of depth and wildness. The perspective is from below, looking upward, emphasizing the sheer height and grandeur of the central tree against a pale sky peeking through the leaves.

A peninsula on the peninsula at low tide; a cute little island at high tide. @photography@fedigroups.social @nature@fedigroups.social #Cascadia #PNW #Photography #Nature #Beach #Sand #Ocean #Water #Forest #Trees #Sky #Clouds
A serene coastal scene featuring a wide sandy beach in the foreground with gentle waves lapping at the shore. Footprints are visible in the wet sand near the bottom right. In the middle distance stands a prominent rocky sea stack covered densely with tall evergreen trees, rising steeply from the ocean. Smaller rock formations appear further out on the horizon. The sky above is partly cloudy with patches of blue, casting soft natural light over the calm water and forested coastline.

Our Ocean is an artist 🌊🎨 @photography@fedigroups.social @nature@fedigroups.social #Cascadia #PNW #Photography #Nature #Ocean #Beach #Sand #Art
Low-angle view of wet, dark sand meeting dry, light-colored sand on a beach. The wet sand's edge creates an intricate, organic pattern with irregular shapes and finger-like extensions spreading across the dry sand. Gentle waves and white foam are visible in the blurred background near the horizon.Close-up overhead view of the boundary between wet and dry sand. Dark, saturated wet sand forms complex, amoeba-like shapes with curved edges against lighter dry sand. The pattern resembles natural camouflage or abstract art, showing how water has seeped into the sand creating distinct textures and color contrast.
