It's been a few years since I was on the subway in NYC. Back then, it wasn't full of B2B ads for tech infrastructure and platforms. Now it is. That's the same early sign of the sociotechnical enshittification process I saw in SF 10-15 yrs ago. Really sad to see NYC heading the same way.

I was shaped politically by 70s/80s music megastars whose politics were clear in their songs as well as tours that raised money and awareness against injustice: U2, Sting, Simple Minds, Pink Floyd, Springsteen, etc. Post-2000, that's been gone. Glad to see people like Macklemore bringing it back.

It's a recording, no matter what Apple says. It's a conversion of sound waves into data that is stored, albeit briefly. This violates all dual-consent laws and once again shows that Apple's claims about being the good guys in privacy is a crock of shite.

Apple says the new AI Live Recap feature on Apple Watch Series 12 doesn't "record" anything (to circumvent two-party consent laws) However, this really stretches the definition of "recording". It can't be done without conversion of sound waves into data, which must be at least temporarily stored.
