i'm not used to making sprites in this style, but i wanted something with the distinct silhouette of NES castlevania, so i started by working in greyscale to make sure that the character read without colour, and to ensure i kept in the colour limit. i'm quite happy with how she turned out

i had an idea for a game called Valkyrie. it's like castlevania crossed with zelda 2. attacking is very slow and intentional, and locks you into the animation. the main character is very slow and methodical, owing to her heavy armour. like zelda, you can move your shield up and down to block attacks
