I was lucky in that I heard 'studio shaft' and immediately put it on my 'to watch' list that season.

I think the part that drove people rabid when it released is that all the promotional material implied that it was going to be played more straight as a standard magical girl anime. Like, the anime itself is structured to fake you out pretty hard if you've not been spoilered on it.

It's so good when horny overpowers survival instincts and you spend the rest of your life rutting against the slimy inside of some sexy beast~

That's what I consider the 'hunter' part of it though. Hunting video games are all about prep. Plus I just generally prefer the more leisurely pace of the earlier games that expected me to be doing some gathering and prep work between fights.

It's a decent roster now. At launch it felt hella rushed out the door. Like, you couldn't repeat fighting the game's final boss, he had no high rank mission, and no unique armor on launch, lmao.

Monhun has been leaning more toward being a 3rd-person-action-boss-rush rather than a fantasy hunting sim for quite a while now. It's like resident evil, where it's just kinda not playing to it's unique strengths anymore.

I like that PS2 heather's hair is visibly layered, and how her clothes almost seem a little too big on her. Makes her feel more real. The DBD model feels like someone cosplaying as heather by comparison...

Yeah, there's been more than a few times over the years that I got excited for an internal alt, not realizing until it was too late. UxU
