It's all his fault

In-process photos. It's hard to articulate how frustrating and engrossing and messy and (eventually) rewarding this is.

This bottle here is the primary reason I have spent 200+ hours in the last month jigsaw-puzzling a massive tub of green glass shards. We found and picked out just the seal when we were digging the 103 South privy, and I was hoping to find the bottle that housed it. Hard work and patience = success!!

A little emotional about these two. Case gin bottles are almost impossible to assemble from privy contexts; I have LEVELED UP, ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED. If that weren't exciting enough, we have our first onion bottle now too, omgggggggg. Both from the bottom of the 103 South Privy. #archaeology

I am struggling to finish a very overdue commission, and have been kinda down on myself this week, but I just saw this piece from @katewagner.bsky.social and have been laughing my ass off for 5 min at this paragraph—I feel so much better!
The sheer scale of the hype inflation came to light in May. In the same article, Insider revealed that Decentraland, arguably the largest and most relevant Metaverse platform, had only 38 active daily users. The Guardian reported that the monetized content ecosystem in Meta’s flagship product Horizon Worlds produced no more than $470 in revenue globally. Thirty-eight active users. Four hundred and seventy dollars. You’re not reading those numbers wrong. To say that the Metaverse is dead is an understatement. It was never alive.

I'm still convinced that the Phanatic inspired the monster at the end of Stephen King's The Library Policeman
Then it began to change again, and Sam's feeling of relief faded. It did not have
a face, exactly, but below the bulging blue eyes, a horn shape began to extrude
itself, pushing out of the horror-show face like a stubby elephant's trunk. The
eyes stretched away to either side, becoming first Chinese and then insectile.

Sam could hear it sniffing as it stretched toward him.

It was covered with wavering, dusty threads.

Part of him wanted to pull back - was screaming at him to pull back - but most of
him wanted to stand his ground. And as the thing's fleshy proboscis touched him,
Sam felt its deep power. A sense of lethargy filled him, a feeling that it would be
better if he just stood still and let it happen. The wind had become a distant,
dreamy howl. It was soothing, in a way, as the sound of the vacuum cleaner had
been soothing when he was very small.

Who needs the Thames? After a good rain, we can mudlark in the dog park across the street from our home in Philly! We always spot 18th- and 19th-century sherds, likely churned up from demolished privies and dumped back into the ground when the adjacent stretch of I-95 was built in the late 1970s

One of my cats has made her feelings about the halibut stuffy known, and the halibut stuffy also has some feelings about it

The singers were great! The choir was great! The music was great! Just ... why??? Why this story, framed like this? (I mean, we know why) One of the female characters was actually just a near-death hallucination by one of the men ffs

Ordered room service for lunch, waiter came and laid it out on the balcony table, and within 30 secs, to her horror and my delight, an enormous seagull swooped down and ate my tiramisu! 😂😂😂 This was the replacement. Fair enough, right? Every seagull should try it.

My favorite factoid about Die Forelle (aside from it being Schubert setting Schubart lol) is that Schubert left off Schubart's final stanza, which is ... ermmm ... wow

Between playing Schubert when they finish a cycle and this goth af dryer that just appeared in my ads, Samsung are trying real hard to target me, but I just can't get past the fact their garbage rusts out and breaks in under 3 years? We switched to Speed Queen. But I do covet goth laundry appliances
