The handles on this apple bag feel like braided fabric. They are paper. PAPER 🤯

2️⃣ Should be very possible to get this to work with expo-sqlite! Since I am dealing with a rather large dataset I was looking into persistent solutions. When working with a small dataset you probably don't need to persist and can just create the index on the fly.

Moritz Lang @moritzlang.at · 20/05/2025

No favorite yet 😄 But I did some research and found some interesting options: 1️⃣ SQLite can already do full text searches! expo-sqlite with FTS enabled + spellfix1 extension for typo tolerance 2️⃣ FlexSearch seems very memory efficient and allows to persist indexes to storages like SQLite/IndexDB

wow looks interesting! how would you handle a full text search in a memory efficient way? did you find any libraries that can handle this well?

TIL you can make VS Code automatically use your alias path imports instead of those ugly relative paths ✨ import useHaptics from "./useHaptics" ⬇️ import useHaptics from "#shared/hooks/useHaptics"

A code snippet setting "javascript.preferences.importModuleSpecifier" and "typescript.preferences.importModuleSpecifier" to "non-relative".

think of local-first as a hardening function local systems should remain operational even when the infrastructure isn't... when the infrastructure comes back online, changes are synced it's the same reason you might want a battery or generator if the electrical grid goes down

Bitcoin is the strongest promise in the universe and truly unique in this sense.

Moritz Lang @moritzlang.at · 03/12/2024

Bitcoin is a self-guaranteeing promise because it is decentralized by design. You don't need to trust anyone to ensure that it is and remains this way. Altcoins like Ethereum are run by organizations you must trust and therefore always have a "backdoor" to circumvent decentralization.
