50 years ago this morning, Gen. Pinochet’s assassins murdered my colleagues Orlando Letelier and Ronni Karpen Moffitt with a car bomb while they were carpooling to the office. I was in 5th grade and remember seeing stories on the local news. I never imagined I would be working there 13 years later.

Yes. I wish those already dependent had option continue 7Oh as prescription-only, and educate clinicians on MOUD for 7oh for those who want to stop. Selling it freely with no warning is not informed consent, the necessary precondition to ethical drug use. Withdrawal is severe, unlike kratom.

Kratom is not the same thing as 7-Oh. Kratom = plant, safe, long used. 7Oh = lab-made with deceptive marketing, causing unwitting physical dependencies. Read about the differences here, backed by data: www.theguardian.com/us-news/2026...

Normalize taking methadone at the United Nations! The 69th Commission on Narcotic Drugs has wrapped. The US is still being the US. International diplomacy is incredible and very far from obsolete. It may save us yet. PS - Austria is the 17th country I’ve traveled to while on MOUD.

Especially after they took his gun out of his waistband where it remained during the scuffle and then blasted him away. No shit your money is on the armed expression of US government power and not one dude holding his cell phone. But wait should I or should I not have lots of guns if I want rights?

Morgan Godvin @morgangodvin.bsky.social · 24/01/2026
Is possession of a firearm a necessary prerequisite to having the government respect your rights, or a license for said government to execute you on the spot? I am very confused by the “don’t tread on me” crowd suddenly being anti-handgun..?

Expect to see a surge of proud ignorance and proplawganda about what you can say about ICE agent Jonathan Ross, identified by local media as the person who shot and killed Renee Good. In particular, expect a repeat of Rittenhouse-era “accusing him of murder is defamation” rhetoric. It’s not. /1

What for what? I made a broad statement that empirically, number of police officers is not negatively correlated with crime rate, and that it’s ludicrous to assert the issue in the two cities with most police in the country is simply a lack of police officers. They objectively suck at solving crime.

It’s called “regular presentation” or “mandatory presentation” but it’s just signing into a clip board at the place and leaving. Otherwise, from everything I’ve seen in Portugal, anyone claiming mandatory forced treatment exists is arguing in bad faith or has never been there.

Under the auspices of the that due to fleeting motivation, perhaps one of their check ins will be while they’re otherwise inspired to quit/or to get a job. They focus on the person’s whole behavior, not the substance use in a vacuum. Eu falo português se você tem mais perguntas.

Morgan Godvin @morgangodvin.bsky.social · 14/08/2025
And the location of that check in depends on the persons needs but is most often either a job centre, a methadone program, or a treatment center. All they HAVE to do is sign a paper saying they arrived. That’s the most coercive thing that happens in Portugal.
110
Morgan Godvin @morgangodvin.bsky.social · 14/08/2025
- the only thing that is ever forced on people is “check-ins,” where they can be made to check-in weekly at whatever the commission finds best suited to them Such as: someone in very chaotic use has refused every offer of treatment, which they’re allowed to do. So once a week they have to check in
