Just gonna put this out there: If you go into a streamer's chat and post about a celebrity/well-known public figure's death, that's the equivalent of trauma dumping (which is NOT okay), and you deserve whatever consequences the channel's moderators hand to you. Don't do it.

Twitch is addressing viewbots and other inauthentic viewership. Over the next few weeks, we can expect to see downward corrections in viewership across the platform.

A quick update on viewcounts. We have teams and tech dedicated to ensuring that the views that show up on channels reflect actual viewership, and aren’t artificially inflated in any way. Ultimately, metrics on Twitch should represent the real and growing communities that show up and participate on channels, so we regularly update detection tools and methods.

We recently made changes that meaningfully improved our ability to identify viewbots, inauthentic viewership, and other potentially fake engagement. These changes will roll out over the next few weeks.

So, if your channel was viewbotted, or if some of your viewers are artificial or inflated, you will see an impact to your channel’s viewcount. This also means that third party sites that publish unverified Twitch viewcounts are going to see changes to that data over time.

We recognize that viewbotting can be out of the streamer’s control. In making these changes, our goal is to improve the experiences for both streamers and viewers.

Happy International Nonbinary People's Day! Today also kicks off Nonbinary Awareness week, so here are some posts I saw recently that really resonated with me in a "Yeah, you tell 'em!" kind of way.

e-102 on tumblr posts: "you guys need to let go of any rigid belief in what being nonbinary is because it can be anything. like someone can look completely average in gender presentation and do literally nothing to set themselves apart from their assigned gender and still be nonbinary. "

e-102 then posts a screenshot of someone else's reblog tags that say "ok but my nonbinary friends actually say otherwise".

e-102 replies "okay well i’m your nonbinary enemy and i say so."

Werethropy on tumblr posts: "The nonbinary afab who goes by she/her, dresses femininely, and uses a push-up bra when I—" when you what? What's wrong with her?

Is she not nonbinary enough for you? Is the way she experiences her queerness and how she presents not perfect enough for you? Nonbinary people don't owe you androgyny, right? So why is she the exception? Why does she have to hate herself to appeal to your standards? Why is she any less trans—any less worthy of respect—cause it's "not visible"? Queer solidarity my ass. Don't spout this bullshit on Pride, man.
