Unfortunately, most voters have no concept of scale so it's still useful propaganda.

I think maybe there's been a poor job explaining to students why they are asked to do various work, and that's probably been true for a long time. At least, it seems like a lot of people have a poor understanding of it.

I've heard it said that mostly it seems LLMs are much better at doing searches through math papers than tools we already have and that the bulk of the real work was done by humans. How accurate is that from your perspective, if I may ask.

It was kind of surprising for him to argue the economy is fine just the other day, tbh. And that there were no numbers to back up any problems.

They became the party of grifting and now it's just becoming more and more blatantly criminal.

I think the current environment and social media also make a large audience that is eager to pick up their pitchforks and torches.

There's a real "shoot first, ask questions later" mentality that I think social media and the increasing extremism* seem to encourage. *Dire stakes make a lot of people less likely to consider things carefully

Though a lot of people did at least make pretty clear how gross the themselves were by their recorded interactions with Epstein at least.

He liked making himself feel important and influencial by interacting with scientists and other people. It's one of the reasons it's hard to pin down who knew what or was involved in what.

I think there's even been a bit of a rush to judgement on people who interacted with him just a handful of times before it was generally known that kind of person he was. Seems like that could happen before realizing he was incredibly gross and awful.

People love platforming an idiot that has the message they want and superficially seems credible. And a lot of other people want to hear said person, unfortunately.

Let's not act like they've thought that far ahead, really. They depend on the critical thinking of others every day. Their own products require it to be developed even. They just think if they move fast enough and ignore everything breaking then it will all get fixed.

Just like law research, right? Who cares if the citation actually exists or is being used correctly?

Unsurprisingly, many corporations are finding it's not as useful or cost effective as advertised
040
Matthew 🦖 @moosewithablanket.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
And if you're doing tasks that don't require understanding, then do they even need to get done or is this just making corporate waste more expensive?

Matthew 🦖 @moosewithablanket.bsky.social · 07/10/2026
For a lot of them, it really isn't necessary good if it means you don't have a thorough understanding of the mechanics of the answer -- which you can't really rush. It's even worse if the AI is making mistakes, which is frequently does and you've lost the critical thinking and skills to notice

The lines they draw on where it's ok to be blatantly racist and where they have to do whatever this is are weird.

Better to spend that time and energy on hearings and investigations that don't have a false "not guilty" vote at the end.
000
Matthew 🦖 @moosewithablanket.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
A lot of people seem to think the Democrats should be spending a lot of time and publicity to have a process that ends in Trump being found not guilty in the Senate. I just don't see how that's a great move. Trump's first term showed it didn't do anything.
100
Matthew 🦖 @moosewithablanket.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
Last thing they need to be doing is having votes where Trump is found not guilty.
000
Matthew 🦖 @moosewithablanket.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
I think this is, in fact, very likely to not happen. Not because Democrats wouldn't want to convict Trump and remove him (and many others) for their many crimes, but because they won't have the 2/3rds majority in the Senate to convict. Better to spend the time and energy on hearings/investigations
100
Matthew 🦖 @moosewithablanket.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
And they need a 2/3rds majority in the Senate to convict, and that just isn't happening. We already saw how useless impeachments without conviction were in Trump's first term. If anything, it sends a message that Trump is innocent. Better to spend energy on investigations and hearings, imho.
010
Matthew 🦖 @moosewithablanket.bsky.social · 06/10/2026
The bigger hurdle is that they wouldn't have the votes in the Senate to convict. That requires a 2/3rds majority.

It's kind of impressive how the company founded on the idea of doing AI ethically has repeatedly shed ethical standards until it we got here.

You can look at the text on the podium. Why did they modify it with AI? I don't know. It's stupid, but it's there. Maybe take a look before posting?

Sometimes Asimov wakes up and is really frantic and I wonder if he dreamed of a world with no kibble
Asimov, a black cat, sleeping in bed and curled around his kibble with a paw gripping the bowl.

Asimov has severe cerebellar hypoplasia, so he doesn't have the coordination to walk, but he can get around and is happy. He needs to be positioned to eat food easily and he prefers kibble.

Yes, you can also very easily see this behavior with ascii art. Heck, often it just straight-up copies the entire art (sometimes just 95%).

Yeah, there are plenty of other programs to use too to just modify the color, but the original color was fine too, tbh. But using AI is just ridiculous and makes the whole thing look fake.

Makes less sense to have an AI edit then, but the meme uses one which discredits the whole thing for no reason.
