Thats really the issue with all these takes tbh. Its just a big "cant we all just get along?" opinion piece with literally no insight beyond that. Guys who believe racial/gender equality is as debatable as tax structures saying everyone is being too mean.

Mainly because I dont respect anyone who thinks the point of art is being told they did a good job. Its a lesser form of being.

Your opinion is only one that can exist necessarily due to a lack of courage.

Its true though. Credit is all that matters to you. You want people to tell you you did a good job but youre too much of a coward to put in the work to develop a skill. Youre afraid of failure and it has rotted your soul. You could pay a person to tell you you did a good job instead of a robot.

You could just pay for a prostitute if you need validation that badly. It'd be healthier in the long run.

You believe google is honest with the numbers because you are invested in them being honest with the numbers. You've got an incurious and credulous mind. Youre the archetypal AI shill.

Youre doing the old standup bit abt "inventing" things by just coming up with ideas (phone app that drives your car) and assuming someone else will make it for him eventually using their own skills and expertise. Youre telling a machine to use other people's work so you can pass it off as your own.

There's a common phenomenon that happens when trying like, a new exercise for the first time that you've never heard of where you assume whatever your maximum is can't *possibly* be much lower than the potential human maxium. This is like that but with brainpower.

The rest of the article is similar to the polygon reporting but that being the headline and the main lede was a disastrous choice.

The characters/words for "generation" (the act of generating) and "generation" (epoch) are not the same so the only way to misinterpret that is through machine translation. Whether that happened in-house at ign or via their sourcing is not really clear but thats the misunderstanding.

Also ftr I really do not think you need to give corporations the benefit of the doubt, just in this instance it was a pretty funny error.

‘A Future Where We Create Games Together With AI’ — Capcom Announces Plans to Transform the RE Engine Into an AI-Generation Game Engine
Resident Evil and Street Fighter developer Capcom revealed some big changes coming to its RE Engine, which they plan to gradually improve and transform into an "AI-generation game engine."

Entire article hinged on the idea that it was "an ai-generation engine" which was a mistranslation of "an engine for the ai generation"

Personally I wouldnt have taken umbrage with someone calling my music "emotionally driven" but that's because I'm capable of creation and understand that emotion is all that matters therein, so I don't see it as a negative. Maybe that's why you need a computer to make stuff on your behalf.

IGN using ai translation and misreading the context of the word "generation" to mean "generative" when it meant generation as in "epoch" is pretty funny tbh.

1) This isn't about generating games or assets with AI, it's just about using automation tools for some processes like bug testing which isn't inherently bad 2) IGN should be embarrassed for this headline. It doesn't say "AI generation" as in generative AI, it's 世代, "generation" as in "time period"

Shocking that the guy using ai to write music about how much he hates anti ai people has strong opinions about who is and isnt an emotionally driven idiot.

I think this is a distinction that doesnt really matter to a lot of people tbh. Its a way to compartmentalize the bad stuff about AI in a way that dishonestly absolves the user from any blame. I dont think everyone using ai is some braindead monster but I do think championing it is difficult without

You can have an opinion on whether or not training data ethics matters but its pretty plainly and unambiguously software built on plagiarism.
130
Moosebones @moosebones.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
The misunderstanding is that output is the only thing in the process that could be plagiarism. AI companies are are (ostensibly) worth trillions because of media they stole. The machines only work because they plagiarized in the first place. You having the best of intentions doesnt change that.
130
Moosebones @moosebones.bsky.social · 03/10/2026
You have a fundamental misunderstanding of what plagiarism entails, its not just saying you wrote a thing you didn't. You can indeed create and code an LLM free of plagiarism yourself, but if youre using a commercial agent of any kind it necessarily exists explicitly because of rampant plagiarism.

Frankly i just think its people who feel attacked for using it not realising theyre also digging deeper into the same type of tribalism they assume everyone anti-ai is engaging in. Gotta be deleterious on cognition if you double down on using ai every time someone online says it sucks.

Moosebones @moosebones.bsky.social · 02/10/2026
How do you think it does those things without plagiarism though?

This is kind of a cowardly response to be honest. The thread you replied to doesnt have anyone being an arsehole and none of the responses to you are either but youve taken the stance of someone being victimized to eschew criticism.

Theres no reason to stress about impostor syndrome. Chief WH correspondent for the Times wrote an article about how Biden could totally beat up your dad but he just doesnt want to and hes getting paid way more than you ever will. Just apply for jobs, its all fake.
