I know people always comment on this but it was CRAZY how even with his six eyes saying otherwise, Gojo knew that wasn't Geto for his voice alone, in his soul. Kenjaku tried to replicate Geto perfectly but you CANNOT REPLICATE LOVE. he says the same thing Geto says in JJK0 but his tone lacks all

It felt like a parallel was being traced between her and Goddess Ymir as well, again about freedom but more in a romantic lense. I personally dislike the whole way the Ymir storyline was treated, but I do understand why it had to be Mikasa and couldn't be anyone else. They are very tragic.

their exchange on what makes a person be good was a truly crucial moment to show both of their characters (that's why although I think it could have be done better, I do like them together). it felt cathartic to see it.

Exactly! AOT "played" around with the concept of morality and implications of what makes a person good, right, or morally superior in an extremely captivating clever way, in many characters in different manners, but Levi, Erwin, Annie and Armin were the ones who nailed it to me!

Levi's whole character can be taken as what the stoics would call it virtue, although he shows anger which Seneca describes as a irrational emotion. but then, anger is a part of human hood, therefore you cannot have goodness in you if you don't rage about injustice that surrounds you.

since watching I have always associated both Erwin and Armin (in a very, very minor scale) with Nietzche's works and Levi and Eren with the philosophicals schools about freedom, specially the Stoics and it was very enriching to make these little associations as it progressed

I was reading some of Nietzche texts yesterday and my brain went directly to "my goodness, this is so Erwin.". Same as studying ancient stoicism and relating everything with Levi and his journey. I know it sounds dramatic but oh well, I'm kinda tired to humour me haha

I feel that when you write a story with so many characters as AOT has, some of them will be shallow or the writing will fail them somehow. sometimes it is Mary Sue sometimes it's a terrible lack of development. we just roll with it 😅

I like when an author admits to want to write gay stories or to have inspo on them. It's both refreshing honest and gives a new enlightenment on their current works. I think the JJK author also expressed that he wanted to write yaoi, which I hope he does bc he has talent to deliver tragic ones.

in my current opinion (which can change, why not haha) she lacks as a well written woman BUT she is written with the same (if not more, bc isym both loves her and uses her as his MC as well) care and depth as her male counterparts, be her romantic interest, her relative or her best friend.

not to compliment him but him also admitting to have now a female editor who helps him to develop Sarada (Sasuke and Sakura daughter) in the Boruto series and making her fleshed out and complex as her male counterpart was something that positively surprised me

yes, same here. I think he failed mikasa but not purposely. she is a well written character, fleshed out with a deep storyline but she's not a well written woman. I don't think I'm expressing myself properly but praying for you to understand what I mean.

your last topic reminded me of Naruto's author explicitly admiting that he didn't knew how to write Sakura's emotions and didn't wanted to get deep in it so he developed Naruto and Sasuke instead. we all saw how this played out (I was impressed with having him admiting this out loud, publicly)

but (and I wrote this on tumblr in the beginning of the year) I felt that eremin's last scene was WAY more romantic coded than eremika's one. the whole setup + dialogue was otherworldly. really sealed their bond as one of the most, if not the most, important of the story (to me at least)

I partially agree with this, but not much to say that eremin x eremika fits this line of thinking bc I feel the author was intentional on romantic eremika, the execution of the romance just wasn't all that and eremin had way more depth because their bond were more in the focus.

this is just my pov ofc but I feel its clear when a ship is just a ship, fun and all and when a pair is writing purposely in romantic tones, going as far as using ancient romantic tropes on them and in the end, they're still canonically in a straight thing nobody understand the reason why

also when a canon straight couple is this undeveloped, one side of them, usually the male one, has a much deeper relationship with their male friend, who acts inside the narrative as the romantic counterpart until you need to avoid the gay allegations

even when the "non canon" ones are written replacing which it's OBVIOUSLY the place of a romantic interest (I can think of at least three different couples on this one alone) they're still do it better. usually the undeveloped couples are mostly hetero which I think misogyny plays a part in it
