No, we often record the tip bank (4mm) as they are within IT or EVC. I tried some upper sites, especially sites in STS dorsal bank, and they are not visual responsive and highly auditory responsive (in one session, these neurons response as I clap hands), so we didn’t record them for TripleN.

That said, after release tripleN, we did expand to dorsal areas too. Designing paradigms there took some effort—these regions have larger RF and stronger task/saccade modulation than ventral stream. We are still collecting and curating this new dataset, so it'll be a while before release!

Hi Shahab! Thanks for your interest. We record V1→IT because this dataset is designed around image-driven responses, especially across IT subregions. That's our core focus—ventral stream where object recognition is most systematically understood.

Many of the scientific questions we're interested in tackling require studying learning over long periods of time across the brain. This is challenging – which is why we're excited to say we've been developing a system for chronic wireless recording using long Neuropixels probes in macaque monkeys.

Our newest design of minimized, manual insertion system for Deep Neuropixels recording. The whole setup costs just 1600 RMB (less than 250 USD), and drift stability on a par with hydraulic micro-manipulator.

Kilosort4 detects a LOT of neurons, I recorded 15k neurons in one year 🤯 Traditionally, one would curate these detected units to see if they are well isolated single neurons. This is not feasible anymore, so today let's look at three options that are out there to automate this process! 🤖👇

(2/6) Using fMRI-guided Neuropixels recordings, we targeted category-selective regions (face/body/object/scene/color), collecting >20k units across 59 sessions while macaques viewed NSD shared1000 stimuli. This provides rich single-trial population responses
