She’s totally out of her depth. That presser was embarrassing. I’m always amazed at those with little to no talent thinking they actually possess tons of it. Is it self delusion or what?

But that 100mn is the best looking of the 400mn. That’s what people are saying.

See AI-demand. Look at imports of computers, peripheral gear, chips. Most are up nearly 100% YTD vs 2025. This is a one horse economy right now and that usually doesn’t end well.

Justin, I too have little enthusiasm in engaging with conservatives at this point. I work in the financial industry and work with colleagues that sell bonds to community bankers. These are college educated pros who have a particular skill set, yet they also voted for Trump 3x and would do so again!

Why would they do that?

Not a little bit concerned why the US government is actively working with the Russians to strip human oversight requirements from AI control of military weapons systems? This administration should not be trusted with anything, yet we’re sprinting headlong developing AI with virtually no oversight.

The garnish is top-shelf. The lightly toasted marshmallows are exquisite.

I listened to his speech. He sounded about as unhinged as Trump’s, which is really quite something.

Still playing the 24 campaign playbook that every social program is riddled with fraud and abuse. Frankly, it’s all they know to do on safety net stuff.

This mocking will only get worse, and with Trump’s fragile ego he’ll lash out in some arrested adolescent way. I guess it’s not all bad that he’s fucked up the military, like everything else he’s touched, as they’ll be less likely to inflict much damage as he seeks his revenge.

That’s the least of it. The conflating of trade deficits as losses is the root of all this tariff nonsense. I suspect someone once tried to school him on this and was summarily dismissed.

I remember as a Teenager filling up my ‘66 Mustang in 1977 after prices jumped from 0.40 cents to .80 cents/gal and my purchase rolled the pump from $9.99 total to $0 and eventually approx $2.00. The mgr only asked for the $2.00 but I had to tell him I owed another $10. It was a new world for all.

Interesting piece from Krugman this am on the weaponization of global trade. Seems the Nazi’s did something similar in the 30’s by actively moving trade from “richer” economies to lesser developed ones so they could exert economic pressure on them. Once that played out the kinetic war began.

Which is pretty typical behavior of our arrested adolescent cosplaying POTUS.

Latest CPI had food category up just 0.1% for the month and just under 3% YoY. So, pretty “ordinary” price inflation which makes his comments sensible in that price hikes could be the last card played to offset higher input prices.

Well, that’s CBS in 2026. Fox News Lite. Soon, it’ll rival Fox as pure Right Wing programming.

You should do an expose of all the quasi-anonymous people that run the show in the Trump WH. We know Stephen Miller and vaguely that Chung dude, but Boris Epshteyn and others are more lurking in the background. Would make for interesting reading!

Yes. I agree with you and a bit surprised Waller sounded more optimistic about 2% with those cost drivers you mention. I respect his insight but that last speech surprised me a bit.

Seems like every generation is eventually taught a lesson about markets and big drawdowns that brings a more sober, conservative investment perspective. Until that happens the view that 10% annual returns are almost a given rein supreme. We haven’t experienced that in a while but it will come.

I find it amazing they continue to trot Bessent out as an effective spokesperson for the administration when he’s long ago destroyed any credibility he had. He’s a lying sycophant and should be treated as such.

Sara Eisen has been auditioning on CNBC for months now. She has the sycophancy part down, plus she’s blonde which is what Rupert seems to like.

Nah, Rupert likes pretty blonde girls. Seems obvious to me.

I’m going with Sara Eisen as the replacement. She’s been auditioning on CNBC for awhile now.

I know it’s a close race but him and Lutnick seem to be neck and neck in who has lost the most street cred in their admin roles. I would include Hassett in that race but his sycophantic reputation preceded his admin job.

And when an auction price is higher than the current market price it’s called a stop through usually measured as how many basis points the auction yield is below (or through) the market yield.
