After making this game in Spooktober 2024, and seeing it's still getting some views/browser plays, I finally decided it was time to give an update on what's going on with it. I'm excited for what's to come!

Tested a bunch of different stuff with this scene. Overall quite happy with it, for my first real attempt at something like this all in Blender. #blender3d

A 3D render of a moss-covered cottage surrounded by tall trees.

There are two reasons I don’t want to just make this project a RPG even if I think it might fit better than a book series: -lots more assets and I’m afraid I won’t market enough for people to know it exists -developing RPG mechanics scare me

No, I don’t know how rigging works (past a single tutorial to set this up). Yes, if anyone has tips or resources I’d take them. But either way, have a little model of one of my fictional sons <3 #blender3d #ocsky

A stylized/simplified 3D model. The character has short blond hair and big brown eyes. He’s smiling. His clothes are different shades of green; his shirt has elbow-length sleeves that hang down, he has a cloak, and his boots are knee-high. He is in a floating pose.

I miss my son. Feeling the “worst part about having OCs is that you have to create stuff for them” right now. I keep running into problems plotting the story 💔 #ocsky #digitalart

A drawing of a teenager sitting on a chair. He has short, light blonde hair and kind blue eyes. He wears a reddish shirt with slightly poofed sleeves and a yellow vest. His pants are orange. He has a light yellow bracelet.

Go check out this free thing I made! Two fun facts: -this was going to be for O2A2 but then I couldn't figure out how to get a web build made/functional -I made this trailer in Blender's video editor, because I love making one software do 20 things instead of downloading another program

Doodled a bunch of birbs and I liked this one enough to color in. Look at my little guy. There’s no thoughts in that head.

A drawing of a very simplified bird with vague crow coloring. He’s staring off into the distance as he sits with his legs stretched out.

I finally had an OC I wanted to try out this style of model with. So here's a little animation with Yllnor from Heirs of Reneta, with her new/redesigned outfit! #blender3d #originalcharacter #ocsky

And here's the model turnaround since I rendered this out, too.

Emeron is yet again my test subject for different styles of low poly models; I just finished this and quickly posed him. Overall pretty happy with how it turned out, but there's already a handful of stuff I'll probably be adjusting in the hypothetical 2.0. #blender3d #originalcharacter

A render of a low poly, stylized 3D model. He has blue eyes and is smiling. His short hair is light yellow. He has a yellow vest and a red shirt that has elbow-length puffed sleeves. He has orange pants. His shoes are red with some bright and dull yellows.

I wanted to test of different line weights + vaguely art nouveau style detail/filigree (except I’m also lazy). So, here’s some art of Natasa, the Goddess of the Arts in The Butterfly Effect! #digitalart #originalcharacter

A digital illustration of a young woman in an anime-esque style. The borders of the illustration have purple filigree and the whole work has varying line thickness reminiscent of an Alphonse Mucha illustration. This woman has long, plum-purple hair and green eyes. She’s wearing pink robes and has a pink sash loosely hanging from her arms. She has gold bracelets and earrings.

Finally made my first post on my dev/"studio" account with a little something about my stance on genAI (spoiler alert, the answer's "fuck genAI, I will never use it").

Between being in the middle of rebooting the entire series and other projects, I… admittedly didn’t have anything planned for The Butterfly Effect’s 6th anniversary. Instead, here’s two pieces of older #digitalart of some #originalcharacters from the series I still like!

A purple-tinted digital drawing of a young woman upside down. She has dark brown hair which is partially covering one eye. The other eye is covered by an orange and red butterfly. She has purple robes and a cape that resembles dragonfly wings.

A digital drawing of two young women sitting together with a warm tint. The one on the left has long orangish-red hair with streaks of pink, orange eyes, a light yellow dress, and pink dragonfly wings. She is giving a kind look to the one on the right, who appears to be talking. The one on the right has blonde hair and orange eyes with dark scleras. Her orange dress has a lower neckline and has accents of red. She has a gold bracelet on each wrist and orange dragonfly wings.

I made Ely float. I think maybe she wants to be put back on the ground. Will you help Ely get down? #digitalart #originalcharacter

A chibi of a girl with a shocked expression and a yellow exclamation mark beside her head. She’s floating. Her hair is short and a dark purplish color, and her eyes are blue. She has a purple-blue dress that has a slit at the side to show the lighter purple skirt underneath. She has a light purple shawl and cloak, and an off white scarf and leggings. She has a purple belt and shoes.

I had Thoughts, and so I wrote them semi-coherently. Kind of just... throwing this into the void and seeing what happens.

It is a blender, regurgitating fruits to create something “new.” Maybe, when it is reshaped, it looks like a fruit—maybe it even looks good. Maybe it tastes good, too. But there’s something wrong about its shape. Something bitter about its aftertaste.

Because the blender is made of blood, powered by the life of the world around it. Because the fruit that went into it—the fruit of the trees in the sprawling orchards, the fruit of the single tree in the home garden—had been stolen from their original vendors. It did not consider where to plant the tree, or when to water it, or how to nurture it and the lands around it. All the blender does is mix them all together, uninterested in where the parts came from, to present a “fruit.”

Yet, these “fruits” are everywhere. After all, why wait for harvest, when a “fruit” is good enough and can be consumed immediately? Do they notice the real fruit vendors dwindling, as “fruits” replace them? Do they notice the earth crying out, as its resources are stolen and its inhabitants suffer? Do they care?

I notice. I care. To me, the blender is a poison, administered by those who believe they have nothing to fear, nothing to lose; those who care only for themselves, without sparing a second’s thought to who they hurt. And while I stand against these “fruits,” I also lift up those who plant, who nurture, who harvest the real fruit.

So to the most beautiful fruit from a lifelong farmer to the first fruit of a beginner… thank you, and please, never stop. For if there is one thing I know, it’s that there’s something truly wonderful about the act of reaping and sowing, of creation, that all those who indulge in “fruit” will never understand.

Chrys has connections everywhere. Making a deal with her is not a matter of what she can provide; it’s how much you’re willing to pay… #digitalart #origonalcharacter

Minne’s redesign for the “soft reboot“/revision I’m doing for The Butterfly Effect. Just wanted something slightly more complex, since it’s something a lot of my older designs lacked. #digitalart #oc

A drawing of a woman who is a little chubby. She has long, red hair and light green eyes. She has two necklaces, one of which has a bear charm on it. She’s wearing a blue dress with yellow details, as well as yellow gloves and a ring.

“Surely, as the firstborn son of the Fallen One… Simros must enjoy the chaos, right?” #digitalart #oc

A painting/lineless illustration. The background is of fields set on fire with a few swords stuck in the ground. The sky is orange. In the center, there is a man with long silver hair and an off-white blindfold. He has a dark blue shirt with long, loose-fitting sleeves and several off-white belts. His hands are gray and his boots are dark blue. He’s holding a sword.

It may not exactly be an April Fool’s joke, but it’s certainly a silly piece of #digitalart! I present to you: what I must look like whenever I start explaining my projects’ lore, inspired by that conspiracy board meme.

A drawing of a young woman posed reminiscent of the Charlie Conspiracy meme. Her long brown hair is pulled over her shoulder and she has a determined grin. She’s wearing a dark purple, long-sleeved shirt under a lighter purple short-sleeved one, along with plain dark blue pants. She has a necklace shaped like a bird skull and a belt chain with butterflies on it. On the conspiracy board beside her, there are many papers connected by red strings, though most of the text is illegible.
