One thing that really p*sses me off though is the infantalising language around #adoption and the fertility industry. We are constantly referred to as children as if we never grow up as adult fully shaped people.

There was a panel with members of the council, a few researchers, a donor concieved person and a representative from the donor industry. That representative obviously argued against anonymity because, as she put it, then it might be difficult to get the product. Yes, she called it a product.

Went to an event by The Ethical Council of Denmark this evening. They presented their new recommendation on anonymous egg and sperm donation and the recommendation is to remove the anonymity. www.dr.dk/nyheder/indl...

Adoptionspolitisk Forum finder det fremsendte lovforslag til yderligere udskydelse af solnegangsklausul for Ankestyrelsens hjemmel til at varetage adoptioner i forbindelse med DIAs lukning yderst bekymrende.

Som nævnt i sidste høring om udskydelse i marts 2025, er det dybt problematisk at den selv samme organisation, der gentagende gange har ignoreret ulovligheder, fortsat skal håndtere adoptionsprocessen - uden ændring eller yderligere kontrol.

At staten ønsker at fortsætte med at gennemføre adoptioner, via en styrelse, der ikke kan garantere hverken forsvarlig eller lovlig praksis – samtidig med man venter på et lovudkast, der skal sikre forsvarlige adoptioner, er for Adoptionspolitisk Forum uforståeligt men også er klar tilkendegivelse af man alene tager et hensyn til adoptanternes behov og ikke de formidlede børns rettigheder.

Siden sidste høring er der kun kommet flere eksempler på manglende tilsyn og ulovlig praksis, der har direkte konsekvenser for børns vilkår og rettigheder. Det må forventes at fortsætte under en forlængelse af Ankestyrelsens hjemmel.

Vi henviser til vores oprindelige svar på indførslen af solnedgangsklausulen og henstiller til at man tager alvorligt at en offentlig instans forlænget sin hjemmel til at fortsætte en praksis, der ikke kan garanteres lovlig eller forsvarlig.

Solnedgangsklausulens udløb er en god anledning til at stoppe formidling af børn indtil forsvarlig praksis er sikret.

Da det sidste private adoptionsbureau blev lukket ned, besluttede socialministeren at give Ankestyrelsen tilladelse til at agere adoptionsbureau indtil man har besluttet hvordan et nyt "forbedret" adoptionssystem skal se ud. Tilladelsen blev givet med en solnedsgangsklausul. > #adoption 🥚

Can we regulate the donor/surrogacy industries to not violate human rights and cross basic ethical boundaries? In my opinion, no. They have tried for decades to regulate the #adoption industry and failed. A demand and supply industry, involving children and money, can never be ethical.

The European Sperm Bank scandal comes as no surprise to us adoptees. 60+ years of transnational #adoption has taught us that children are something you can trade for money via a private companies. This is the capitalist way and basic human rights do not apply. This is only the tip of the iceberg.

Adoptionspolitisk Forum (the adoptee led org I am a part of) were actually approached by this Christian org, after they had secured this sweet money deal from the state. They asked us if we could advice them on the adoptee's perspective. No money was offered for this work.

They will help pass information on to local authorities in the birth country, nothing more. The offer only runs for a 2 years. This is part of several initiatives including independent legal advice from a, I kid you not, Christian organisation.

I have no idea why Lebanon is one of the four countries. Denmark has only adopted 63 Lebanese children. The support mainly consists of informing the adoptees of what they can or can't expect to have access to in their birth countries. They will not do any active searching for the adoptees.
