Barry Adamson. I spent hours learning all the bass lines on The Correct Use of Soap. Live he was always cool and correct - new wave with Magazine and then something more spiky and weird with the Bad Seeds. And his album Oedipus Schmoedipus is one of the all time greats.

Just bumped into Mick Jones on the train. Said ‘thank you’ for all the music and shook his hand. He was modest and charming. That’s made my day. #lifegoals #theclash

Highly recommend a visit to the V&A East. Spectacular building, lovely spaces, thought-provoking exhibits with an emphasis on artists, makers and workshops from the surrounding East London area. Great view back to the city from the 3rd floor. And pretty easy to get to on Elizabeth line! #lovelondon

Read this yesterday (it doesn’t take long). Rather lovely - sad and poetic. And increased my respect for the people who decided they could adapt this into a film. It doesn’t immediately yell drama… #amreading #books

Went to see ‘Arcadia’ tonight. Have never seen it before. It’s such a clever, well constructed play. All the actors were good, but really the writing is what catches your breath. And exercises the brain!

Promoting your film by talking about the cameras is a very ‘prog’ move I think. It reminds me of 70s bands that insisted on telling you about their speakers, their synths, their cymbals etc. Or maybe akin to Dire Straits being sponsored by the Philips CD division.
A promotional image from the film The Odyssey showing the wooden horse being dragged from the sea by dozens of men. A lone horseman in armour watches on. There are two references to IMAX in the titles and no other credits.

BBC News has gone way overboard with the earthquake porn. A notable example of how news events with lots of clickbait video get way more coverage than those that are just… er… news.

RIP ‘difficult’ poet J H Prynne. When he taught me (back in the Stone Age) he always wore the same attire with signature orange tie. He told me his wife always bought him a new one for Xmas. ‘Do you wear it every day?’ I asked. ‘Every day except at funerals,’ he replied.
