Creswell Crags in the sunshine yesterday morning
A lake extending along a valley with vertical, rocky, sides. Trees grow along the tops of the sides, and a path runs around the lake. The sun shines gently from a blue sky above.

Attic clearout... Soviet microscope going free. Worth about £100 if eBay is a reliable guide. Don't want to post it. In Oxford, UK.

Moo has little sneezing fits sometimes. tishtishtishtishtish, around 4 Hz. This morning I counted. Results: 13 in a row. Then pause. Then 8 in a row. Pause. Then 5 in a row. Fibonacci sneezing? Is that a thing? All the internet finds is an old Reddit thread that didn't receive any useful replies.
Two tabby cats on a cat-bed shelf in a room, Moo and Mabel. The background is cluttered with items such as books, plushies, cushions, and picture frames. Moo is looking up and to the left, and has one paw poking forward out of the bed. Mabel is looking down and to the right, and is performing "loaf".

I quite like the "No shit, Sherlock"-ness of the two signs at the entrance to the road. Lower Street, Islip, on my walk today.

Chatty little visitor to our garden this morning. José was keen to make friends across the catio netting, but the others weren't so keen.

José and Moo were unusually close together (getting close to José is a rather chancy business), and then Mabel got up from the other end of the sofa, and walked along to curl up on top of their intersection.
Three cats in a cuddle pile on a sofa, limited by a box and a laundry bag. José is asleep; Mabel is working on being asleep; Moo is alert and suspicious.

Fun little mental workout of a morning!

302. A good mental workout! One slightly hindered by the rather idiosyncratic choice of county layouts in Scotland and Wales. The 26 counties of the RoI would add on to this map very naturally.

A notebook that dates to at the latest 1935 and was written in by a British person is marked thus on its first page. I thought that perhaps one could use this information to find out online when it might have been manufactured. But the company name is hard to internet-search. Any bright ideas?
Stamp inside notebook reads:
No. 5
THE "CANVAS" SERIES.
J.W & CO.LTD. LONDON
Between is a table of possible sizes. No. 5 is 10x8 inches, or 254x203 mm, with 300 pages. It is a solid book.

This reminds me of a recent find in the family history box - my Dad's exam results from 1962 (when he was 10)
M. Taylor Summer Term 1962 Exam Results. Handwritten on a lined page, adorned with drawings of ghastly misadventures and blood-curdling threats to the reader.

Decided today was the day I would finally learn whether the WhatsApp react shown here means "Thank you" or "High five". Mythical interested reader, it means *both*. If you search in the react list for "thank you", it is there, and if you search for "high five", it is there.

From one Mabel to another. She recommends getting a Moo to lean on while sleeping. Warm and soft, a high quality pillow.
Mabel (left) and Moo (right) sleeping on a sofa cover with a bright pattern. Mabel is lying tucked under the solid sofa arm with her right foreleg sitting on Moo's head. They both seem comfortable.

A rare full cat formation on display. Mostly looking at the camera too, but Moo exercising her right to opt out of that component.
Four cats on an elaborate cat tower in front of a stair banister in a room. José (tabby/white) on the left, Moo in the middle, Alice on the upper right, Mabel on the lower right (all tabby).

This (at Drayton St. Leonard) must be a ford. A road runs down to it, and, just visible in the trees on the left-hand side on the far bank, a track seems to run up from it. The house next to it is called Ford Cottage. It's a ford. Nevertheless, I decided not to dip my feet/legs in it today.
