Monteiro @monteiro.bsky.social · 03/10/2026This just showed up in the mail. My friend @aniking.bsky.social wrote it. It’s filled with stories about queer joy and werewolf sex and it’s so very worth getting yourself a copy. masonjarpress.com/chapbooks-1/... 151 0
Monteiro @monteiro.bsky.social · 29/09/2026Picturing me and my two idiot brothers on the living room floor, surrounding the new fall season TV Guide, as we debated which Saturday morning cartoons to watch is one of the few happy memories of my childhood. And probably something I'll mention at both their eulogies. 120 0
Monteiro @monteiro.bsky.social · 26/09/2026We recently declared our neighborhood an autonomous zone. (And by “declared” I mean we made stickers.) But the neighbors seem to love it and enjoy putting stickers up. 030 0

Monteiro @monteiro.bsky.social · 01/09/2026A reminder that licking the boots of a sociopathic narcissist never works. They will still demean you. They will still punish you. And now they can also remind you that you stupidly thought you could get out of it by licking their boots. 1233 0

Monteiro @monteiro.bsky.social · 12/08/2026During the pandemic my brain broke. At least the part of my brain that could write. Which is a problem for someone who considers himself a writer. So I spent a lot of time doing writing adjacent things like laying out books and zines. Which is fun. 1383 0

Monteiro @monteiro.bsky.social · 18/07/2026This is for you, refusing to see what is happening, because to see it would tear you apart. This is for seeing. This is for remembering. And this is also for vengeance. 1151 0

Monteiro @monteiro.bsky.social · 29/06/2026Started doing 1-on-1’s again. People seem to get something out of them. We talk about the job market, shit you need to do to keep a job, where to find joy. How to make books! One person just talked about records! I listen. I give advice where I can. I don’t gaslight. calendly.com/realmikemont... 1124 0
Monteiro @monteiro.bsky.social · 23/06/2026Fuck Amazon. Ingram does a much better job. For the record, most small trade publishers use Ingram. Here's the tell: open the book to the last page and look in the bottom corner. If you see one of these, the publisher is using Ingram-on-demand, which you can too: 130 0

Monteiro @monteiro.bsky.social · 21/06/2026Just finished reading this. And the common thread throughout the book was that rent was cheap. I moved to Austin in 89, right as everything in this book was coming to a close. I paid $100/mo for a little house in S. Austin, with 1 roommate. 3 dishwasher shifts a week and I was good. 3815 0
