The visual identity of the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich was designed by Otl Aicher. Its bright, radiant colours pick up on Bavaria's white and blue, the green of the Alpine foothills and the silver of the lakes. Red, the dominant colour at the previous Games held in Germany in 1936, is absent.
