I had a girl point this out to me about 30 years ago whilst smoking weed, and it does kinda look like one though it's said to be an accident. It was the VHS cover though and it got recalled and reissued due to parental outrage.

I was looking at it and wondering why it looked not quite right/photoshopped, so I went to see if it was real. Turns out it is, but doesn't quite look as charismatic and classically "Jaws-like" as that, which makes sense since it's in the kitefin shark family. Neat!

I didn't know Jack Kirby was involved at the time (I was 11-12) but I liked that it had the same vibes as the Kamandi comic books I was into from a few years prior. It feels like a continuation of many of the same ideas by Kirby.
