Though I have made effort to educate teen with “good movies,” I’m sure interest in Primetime is at least partially due to Pattinson 😍😉

(Teen won’t go with friend because one especially talks and uses phones during movies. If I even whisper during previews I get a hush! I’m so proud! 😊)

My teen really wants to see both too! I usually happily go but I’m a weenie when it comes to horror movies, so my price for sacrifice to see Resident Evil is to be caught up in math class. So glad to hear RE has humor! (Oddly enough, Shaun of the Dead easily cracks my top 10 list of favorite films!)

That’s too bad. I fell in love with bats after reading the essay “In Praise of Bats” from Diane Ackerman’s “The Moon by Whale Light.” The interaction of the grumpy bat with the smaller bat… 🥹 (Anthropomorphizing just a bit?)

Happy Anniversary to all who observe! (Went to to watch all 337 minutes of the Star Trek Genesis Triology. Theater played them straight through without breaks! Yet time flew by. Bonus fun: I’d never seen Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home. But Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan is still the best one!) 💫 ✨

Watched reruns when ~8 years old and had a dream where the crew needed me, but my parents wouldn’t let me go, so they came at night to my window with a ladder (and special-sized red dress uniform!)—next thing I know I’m on the bridge, ready to leave for adventures …. and then I woke up! 😆💫✨

Also Green Day, American Idiot Tour in San Francisco 2004—several friends and I tried to get tickets the second they went on sale, but none of us got tickets. 😡 (It felt a bit fixed but no proof.)

U2, War Tour in San Francisco 1983—had just discovered their music ❤️ but no money and no transportation from 70+ miles away. Even if could somehow get money and bus ticket to show, no where to go after show 😞

Even as layperson I agree about exhibit—it is excellent if not exactly “stunning“ (through Sept 20). A friend introduced me to Etruscans many years ago when traveled to Fiesole. At this exhibit I learned how much more Romans owed to Etruscans than I realized!

That change was fast. 😏 Now I can only readily find “Lake Ontario” on map when labeled as a “regional municipality” of Canada. 🤨 (The Grimsby one is recent so pin is on edge of shore, not in lake. 🧐) Searching from within USA

Partial map of Lake Ontario, labeled as “Lake Ontario, Regional Municipality of Niagara, ON, Canada”

Partial map of Lake Ontario, labeled as “Lake Ontario, Regional Municipality of Halton, ON, Canada”

Partial map of Lake Ontario, labeled as “Lake Ontario, Regional Municipality of Durham, ON, Canada”

Search results for “Lake Ontario regional“; listings include “Lake Ontario, Regional Municipality of Halton, ON, Canada”; “Lake Ontario, Maple Avenue, Grimsby, Regional Municipality o…”; “Lake Ontario, Regional Municipality of Niagara, ON, Canada”; and “Lake Ontario, Regional Municipality of Durham, ON, Canada”

If simply search “Lake Ontario,” the first link loads the newly-labeled “Lake America”. However, the second result for “Lake Ontario, Toronto, ON, Canada,” loads as “Lake Ontario”

Screenshot of search result in Google Maps for “Lake Ontario”. The first result is “Lake Ontario;” the second result is for “Lake Ontario, Toronto, ON, Canada

Apparently trying to please both sides: it’s “Lake Ontario” on the Canadian side and “Lake America” on the U.S. side

Map of lake with marker off-center, close to Canadian shore, labeled “Lake Ontario”

Map of same lake with marker in center, just inside U.S. border line, labeled “Lake America”

The imports are for “product for ground beef”…?! 🤨 Maybe there will be percentage required to be labeled “ground beef,” like similar to U.S. wine, at least 75% must be beef; the remaining 25% can include other “product”…. ?? And then ground beef will be 25% cheaper?? 😱

And we all know how short-term memory fares. So perhaps the extra effort required without AI creates a stronger connection plus more of a long-term memory, resulting in the higher exam scores? So interesting! But just speculating. Not my area of expertise

010

What a wonderful world @monique99.bsky.social · 19/08/2026

Not a neuroscientist, but I wonder if the AI “penalty” in exam scores, even where homework scores and time spent are similar, is because the brain learns material *better* (stronger synapses?) if it truly works to make connections, versus receiving a mental assist thanks to AI, so more like memory

What a wonderful world @monique99.bsky.social · 19/08/2026

What a wonderful world @monique99.bsky.social · 18/08/2026

An exit reader at a parking garage misread an “A” in my license plate as an “H,” causing a huge backup; nothing I could do until someone from company came to assist. Irritating for all involved, but had me wonder about potentially-worse situations such as for this unfortunate family

How about a $5,000 pen? Came across this one in Los Angeles a couple of weeks ago. I don’t even think it’s real silver. (The teens in my life did educate me on the brand though—apparently very trendy.)

(I’m currently reading Reconstruction: America's Unfinished Revolution 1863-1877 by Eric Foner, but it’s from 1988.) Thanks for your efforts to teach next gen!

Not familiar but looked it up, and it makes total sense! (from my amateur perceptive). Anything to avoid “boring and tedious”! (I think this is exactly how our IT person uses it and has said it is extremely helpful.) As long as it can be trusted
