Hi folks, here to share that I was one of the journalists laid off from the Herald-Leader today. Being a reporter and editor in my home state was a dream come true, and I’m so proud of the work I’ve done in the last five years. I am very sad to say goodbye to this newsroom.

In a 6-month long investigation and more than 3 dozen open records requests, I found that 234 people died inside KY jails since 2020. Roughly 7/10 had not been convicted of the crime for which they were being held. And the deaths have been increasing. www.kentucky.com/news/local/c...

Last month, a judge said the University of Kentucky had not violated Title IX in relation to varsity sports for women at the university. Today, the group of students who filed the lawsuit are appealing that decision. Story from last month: www.kentucky.com/news/local/e... Appeal filed today:
