Theres a setting to turn it off entirely as well. Maybe you somehow had it turned off without noticing? But yea it's way more subtle now so i dont blame you for missing it regardless

From all ive looked up it can depend on the city and it can even depend on how busy the streets are at any given time if it will have an effect.Some do have a queue that you get added to if you hit the buttons and some are just on a cycle regardless of button press as a holdover from back in the day
