She has quite the point of view, for someone with a last name of a phenacyl chloride aerosol, designed to "repel other persons". All Nancy has to do is start speaking and people are repelled. Freaked out, actually.

Photoshopped image of the setup used by the State of Utah to execute prisoners by firing squad -- against a dark-painted wooden wall approximately five feet high are stacks of dark grey sandbags. In the center is a wooden chair with straps to imprison and hold a person sitting in it. Superimposed on this image are lines of text in large white capital letters which say, EXECUTION TONIGHT - SEVEN P M EASTERN - ALL NET - ALL CHANNELS. Below this is a second line of text, which says, Would You Like To Know More? All of this is a reference to a similar image from the nineteen-ninety-seven film, Starship Troopers, where a fascist society executes persons who committed capital crimes would be immediately killed as a public spectacle.

THIS is Wired's Jul / Aug cover. On reflection, whoever approved it should have THOUGHT ABOUT IT. Sorry for shouting: that's where it's at today. And, this is unconnected; but to hell with anyone disparaging Trans persons in any manner, and which rapists are named in the Epstein files? Thank you.

Photograph looking down at a "Magic 8 Ball" prediction toy being held in a person's hand so the window in its base, and the electric blue, triangle-shaped die with a prediction or answer to a question, can be seen. The triangle is displayed, and reads in white letters, quote, He Wants To Kill Us, unquote.

It's "Fleet Week" here in San Francisco - for the past few hours, the City and The Bay are being buzzed by the Blue Angels; all I can think of is Gaza, Ukraine, the Gulf, and all the people living in deep fear of the sound of jet aircraft.

Re: The possible Plague case(s) in Russia; so far, not a red alert. 1) Russia says no new cases of [unknown] pneumonia; 2) World Health Org. says it cannot confirm any new cases; 3) WHO repeats request to Russia for more data; 4) Russia says quarantine in Irkutsk region has been lifted.
Image of a post from FluTrackers dot com which discusses in more detail the four points already mentioned. The text reads, quote --

The World Health Organization (W H O) has not confirmed any new cases of the disease in someone who had contact with an employee of the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Institute who had previously been diagnosed with community-acquired pneumonia, [Russia's public health agency] Rospotrebnadzor reported.

In response to W H O requests, Rospotrebnadzor did provide information on measures they had taken [in Irkutsk region, and repeated no public health risks had been found]. The W H O publicly acknowledged receipt of this information.

On October 4, Rospotrebnadzor announced that it had organized and implemented a special set of measures in Irkutsk Anti-Plague regarding the woman who had died from pneumonia of unknown etiology. The Russians said extensive testing revealed no microorganisms associated with her professional activities, said Anna Popova, head of Rospotrebnadzor.

On October 6, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio called on Russia to provide countries with more information about the infection detected in the Irkutsk region. An unnamed State Department official told CNN that US authorities had been in contact with the Russian government since last Friday [October Second], and discussions are ongoing.

On October 7, the Washington Post, citing informed sources, reported that the United States plans to send Russia an official diplomatic request for additional information about the infection detected in the Irkutsk region. The official U.S. request, known in diplomatic parlance as a demarche, is intended to remind Russia that it is obligated to promptly share information about disease outbreaks with other nations.

She is, I believe, The Floozy -- an administrative position in the Executive Department that hasn't been seen since the Harding administration, 100 years ago. Floozies pose and gawk and gaze lovingly at The Leader - or any male human, if The Leader's not around. Their other job duties are unclear.

"In my experience," sighed the Whale, "a 'fearless' man may be a hazard for you other monkeys - but they generally don't pose a problem down here, in the Sea. As for cowards, they don't, either. Live and let live, we say - except for the sharks; they're a little screwy."

Heeelon is one of history's grotesqueries only due to his wealth. Otherwise, he'd only be a supervisor (not Manager) in the sales division of some Silicon Valley firm; greasy, opportunistic; a snake; only ever "meets expectations" in his annual review. Married, but with a sad-looking wife and kids.

For those interested: A note on the FluTrackers .com forum, providing a clearinghouse for disease tracking for 20 years, from its CEO re: Reports of pneumonic Plague in Russia. The Federation is not very transparent with details, but FluTrackers reviewed what reports were available as of October 2.
Image of the note from Flutrackers dot com, posted by the website's director/CEO, which provides these details about a release and possible outbreak of Plague in Siberia: quote --

"The woman who died of the plague in Shelekhov, Siberia, worked as a lab technician and broke a test tube containing the infectious agent. About 200 of her contacts have been quarantined [this information as of October 2, 2026]. The woman's name was Daria Shipilova, 28 years old ... She worked as a lab technician at the Irkutsk Anti-Plague Institute. On September 25, Shipilova broke a test tube containing the pneumonic plague pathogen. She soon fell ill, and an ambulance took her to the Shelekhov hospital. She stayed there for three days and died on the night of October 2.

"It's likely the girl's number of contacts was as high as three digits," said Irkutsk journalist Pavel Stepanov. Residents of Shelekhov have already noticed people wearing protective suits, masks, and gloves on the streets. Residents also reported that masks were being distributed in kindergartens.

On the evening of October 1, a meeting was held in Irkutsk with the heads of law enforcement and administrative agencies. Since October 1, F S B [Russia's equivalent to the F B I ] patrols have begun escorting ambulances, transporting people who had been in contact with Shipilova for testing, according to sources.

In total, according to their estimates, about 90 contacts were quarantined[on October 1st]. By [the second of October], that figure increased to about 200."

Every once in a while, all the things which appear to come naturally to Germans, and which everyone else claims are proofs of mechanistic / robot / (cough fascist cough) behavior, turn out to be social cooperation that can save lives. Logisch, also. Plus, there's the Heidi Tour. Zum Wohl, y'all.

As I never tire of saying: Angus Schrimm, playing the Tall Man, came to acting late in life. Prior to that, he had been a journalist, and writer for Capitol Records: most liner notes on Capitol's major albums between the late 60's and 80s were written by Schrimm - he won an Emmy for this in 1974.

Had a chance tonight to see the SF Symphony with Renee Fleming performing Strauss' "Four Last Songs", some of the most sublime classical music written in the 20th century. Haven't been to see the symphony in years; they also played Strauss' "A Hero's Life", but I came to see Fleming.
