I write reviews for Locus Magazine. I had a podcast called Writer and the Critic which I co-hosted with Kirstyn McDermott. The episodes are out there. I love the Carlton Football club. What more do you need to know!?

I'm not saying that SH is influential, but of the six books shortlisted for the Goldsmiths Prize today, we've reviewed The Vivisectors already, have Dooneen coming on Monday, and pieces on both The Rouse and Said The Dead are on their way. Specfic is living high on the hog this year and no mistake.

Earth 7, Deb Olin Unferth (Graywolf, 978-1-64453-940-0, $27.00, 248pp, hc) June 2026. If, in Keely Jobe's The Endling, the natural world is still figuring out how best to adapt to climate change, then that battle is well and truly lost in Deb Olin Unferth's Earth 7. Dead but Dreaming of Electric Sheep, Paul Tremblay (Morrow 978-0-06339-846-7, $30.00, 336pp, hc) June 2026. Dead Weight, Hildur Knútsdóttir, tr. Mary Robinette Kowal (Tor Nightfire, 978-1-25032-929-5, $24.95, 160pp, hc) January 2026.
