There’s a grounding principle in marketing about building trust: small promises kept before big promises made. Siri needs to win hearts with experiential basics, so that folks will trust the big claims.

Context.
Screenshot from the App Store re: iOS 27. The key shout: “The next generation of Apple Intelligence arrives in iOS 27, powering an all-new Siri Al experience and integrating deeply across apps that draw on your personal context to help you get more done, every day. Here's a tour.
Meet the all-new Siri AI
Powered by Apple Intelligence, Siri Al is an entirely new version of Siri that's more personal, capable and conversational than ever. With broad world knowledge, understanding of your personal context and awareness of what's on your screen, Siri Al helps you find what you need - whether a confirmation number from an old email or an up-to-date answer on virtually any topic - without pulling you away from what you're doing. With the dedicated Siri app, you can have a back-and-forth conversation - or revisit past conversations and pick up right where you left off. And use "Write with Siri" to draft from scratch or get feedback on what you've written.”

I’ve been testing two £100 refurbs, Pixel with Graphene, OnePlus with Postmarket, and they’re *great*. Both really impressive bits of hardware. My iPhone is not 11x better. I’m not sure it’s even 2x better. So I don’t think people are buying a handset here. So I’m going high.

Women & girls have been complaining for a long time that smart glasses are used to bully, harass, abuse & avenge them. Regulators have not provided adequate mechanisms to protect them. For example, if you're in the UK who would be responsible for such an offence? ICO, Ofcom, police? It's a mess.

And @quantick.bsky.social this was a while ago now but I raised another dimension with them, which is clearly a total blindslot.
Continuation of email to BBC Maestro: “This approach simulates a deceased person as though she were present and teaching.
The deceased author cannot consent, cannot set boundaries, cannot contextualise, cannot revise, cannot apply her own empathy, and cannot refuse. Any reconstruction inevitably makes interpretive choices, then presents them under her authority. She cannot consent, cannot set boundaries, cannot contextualise, cannot revise, cannot empathise with her audience as any good teacher does, and cannot refuse. However carefully curated, that crosses a line by normalising artificial stand-ins for real human presence.
It's also ethically wrong in a broader sense. It directs significant budget, attention and prestige toward extending the presence of a already-canonised author who already has a vast platform. That same investment could instead elevate living writers (especially younger writers and those from
underrepresented backgrounds and locations) and bring forward a wider range of lived experience, subject matter and perspective (including race, disability and other forms of marginalisation)”

Skype pulled most incomprehensible bag fumble of all time. A 15 year head start. Total ubiquity. Added to the Oxford English Dictionary by 2014. Only to fall nuts-first into irrelevance at the exact moment when all other communication was made illegal. Truly, the Pete Best of videoconferencing. RIP.
