Hey friends. They just took her out of the OR again. She had the fluid drained off her chest but it wasn't as big as we (doctors and I) expected. I havent been in to see her and where I thought I would be relieved after the procedure I just have more questions and anxiety. I feel so helpless.

She had another acute pain crisis and we ended up taking hydromorphone, clonodine and a nebulizer and the bair hugger to get her to a point where she wasnt screaming. My lil Momo. 🍑 we had two doctors, two nurses and one, trying to be chill, mom.

Momo had her TIPS procedure on tuesday and has has some significant complications. Right now the team "isnt worried' but the doctor has been sitting outside our window since 7am so... does not instill confidence.

She is doing better today. Still getting lots of rescue meds to bring her potassium down and she is still on oxygen but she is stable for now. Its so scary how quickly she went downhill but I am grateful we caught her before it was too late.

We are in the emergency room, came by ambulance. Shes not ok. Got taken to the closest hospital, we are hoping we can transfer her to our preferred hospital. She needs to be admitted.

Her hemoglobin went down overnight. From 96 yesterday to 82 today. Tomorrow we will see where she is and decide if we are doing another transfusion

Her ammonia levels have risen again. Theyre adding in another medication to try and knock it back. Her hemoglobin went up because she got her weekly med, so we will see if it drops on the next blood work. And happily, her breathing is better this am!!

Today when we talked about hospital stays we created a colour scale. Colorless is Home at Baseline Green is Hospital stay but we will be out shortly Yellow is a longer stay but we expect to go home before long Orange is we are headed to ICU or critical level Red is...bad: not expecting to go home

Kiddo is still in the Hospital. Her ammonia keeps climbing and her hemoglobin and albumin are still dropping. She had an ultrasound today, I am waiting on results, and she has the barium study tomorrow at 11am.

Another update: following her blood transfusion yesterday, her hemoglobin today was 67. They've become more worried. She is having another blood transfusion today. They've called the hospice too to let them know she's not doing well.

We are in hospital for another 2-3 days at least. To start:The transfusion at the end of December did nothing Now, Her kidneys are 100pts above her baseline. They would have admitted us if they were 30 above so they're kinda !!! Creatinine baseline: 135 Creatinine current: 230

Momo is going for the second attempt at banding her esophageal varices! She has her buddy, Scotty, until we go in for the surgery. Good luck Momo! Varices are Grade 2 at position 5 and 7. The banding apparatus didn't fit last time so sclerotherapy is our back up plan if attempt 2 fails too.

So last night we dealt with Momo refusing to eat, followed by her having a big low blood sugar (3.5 or 60) that we struggled to bring her up from at 2am. Multiple rounds of diarrhea and her IV almost came it when she tripped because of the low. It's been rough.

Momo is back in the hospital with gastro distress. Shes got fluids going and she's resting now. The hospice doctor said we came in at rhe right time and nothing is so out of control. This visit can be a relax in the AC and visit with our nursing friends.

Discharged tonight! Home and resting. We have follow up appointments but they'll be do-able as out patient ones. Kiddo has a good pain plan and now I am going to sleep like a... well... not a baby, maybe like a grand dad in a recliner chair.

We're still in the hospital. The damage to her heart from the surgery is more than we expected, and it's taking longer to recover. We are hopeful that the long QT syndrome she is experiencing is short-term and does not become chronic.

Momo is prepped and ready for surgery this morning. We got the call last week that she had a date for cochlear implant surgery. We did NOT expect this fast a turn around. It should be a three hour surgery. So starting at Noon, I should have updates for y'all.

She is admitted overnight. While her vitals have improved, as soon as she ate, her symptoms flared. At least with 2L of fluids on board, we don't have to worry about her immediately dehydrating again.
