the weird market of popcorn buckets spreading to every release, presumably because they are not tied up in some 'toy' contract, is a very strange fruit to grow on late stage movie capitalism.

"I'm increasing the costs for buyers and sellers so much that I was able to extract enough money for this big stupid SUV" Weird for them to advertise it that way.

Unfortunately, just like the reflecting pool he will freely spend any amount of money that has been stolen from other places in government where it was actually supposed to be used , to patch together his gaudy toys.

An "executive order" isn't even a law, and control over elections is specifically and unquestioningly a state issue. What access to their voter rolls can be demanded?

...yeah, I don't see the connection despite having read all of the above. It's quite the epic though, for a certain style. It's like a whole series in one giant book.

"efficient European national rail networks are adopting it" = Switzerland is allowing an experimental deployment of less than 100 yards of panels to be laid out in a test to deploy them for a few years with the hopes of a very niche installation in a limited and specific area.

Molly Wires @mollywired.bsky.social · 15/08/2026
Oh, and that second one might mean finding the right adhesive/mounting to allow the panels to be stripped apart economically, separating the silicon slices and trace wires from the glass they are glued/bonded/enameled/fused onto that is still stable and reliable enough for them to exist in weather.

Molly Wires @mollywired.bsky.social · 15/08/2026
As best as I know, the two things we need is the ability to recover a valuable mineral (the silver) to help the economics, and then a way to separate the bulk glass from the relatively small amount of silicon&etc to be able to create a 'clean' waste output with a much smaller 'problematic" output.

Between the trails is the dustiest, greasiest area. It is the most exposed to falling debris, dragged equipment or spills of anything. It makes cleaning or maintenance into an extra dangerous process that requires closing track areas and working in the danger zone. It's as bad as "solar roadways"

Solar between the tracks is going backwards on the clever idea scale.

And then- the water usage for cooling may be drawn from rivers, the sea or even purpose-made resevoirs but it is not based on local cleaned/refined public drinking water supplies. instead of a data center draining a town, the reactor is built where is can get water.

Storage on site is actually kinda fine in most places but permenant storage is figured out. Failure to implement deep geological storage is a political problem, not an engineering problem.

Waste is a solved problem, for the low/medium materials (gloves that touched some nuclear medicine to the bottle it was in) and also for the high material (used fuel rods).

"benefit" outside of noise and a hard-to-recover spike in apartment/rental house prices that wobbles the local economy for years even after the non-local building crews all leave? The dozen middling permanent jobs in maintenance really makes up for that ten year tax abatement or whatever they got.

-Claim that the usual provisional ballots are suspicious and should be discarded along with legal mail in or absentee votes. Are the armed ICE agents going to be there to illegally arrest anyone who shows up to vote and finds their registration was removed and complains about them?

The voter lists are the underreported part of the SAVE act that Trump is demanding. They want to get overriding federal control so that they can remove voters who are suspicious (so, anyone who has voted Dem or is the 'wrong kind' of person). Removals right up to election day, then they will claim-

The core of your argument seems to be "I saw a very dramatic TV drama about a historical event that was bad, so everything I think is related must be bad" and I don't really understand that view.

The dramatic series reenacting, rephrasing, simplifying, making more TV friendly a huge collection of events happening at the same time and prepared with some notable biases is very historical inspired, and even then the big lesson is don't give soviets an outdated reactor and no real supervision.

When a robot stops working you have to spend money. When a human stops working they are fired and replaced by the third-party entity shielding Amazon from any responsibility for anything. Next is charging back against the last paycheck for all that time spent seizing and rolling around on the floor.

Inductive charging while moving will remain a bad idea, but Id love to see more rooftop solar, to just smooth out demand if nothing else. Maybe a tax credit for landlords who deploy solar on rental units that are tied in to grid-feed/lower energy bills of their renters, because they get left behind.

I would have been happy enough having some generally unremarkable presidency from either of them. Imagine going a week, or more, without thinking about the president and instead thinking about literally anything else.
