The funniest part of tagging along with crab researchers this past Monday: Watching the crabs get chucked back into the estuary after measurement. Could this be the most intense experience of their short lives, hurtling over the water? (I'm told they're "pretty hardy," so will be fine.) 🦀

I have been wondering what kind of fire future awaits the Northeast. Experts said: Risk is rising. But facing up to it now, being proactive, embracing controlled burns may keep our homes and forests safer in the long run. (& could bring back the fire-adapted ecosystems that used to be more common!)

Mount Washington's accessibility is one of the many things that makes it so unique & special. So interesting to watch the Commission, with its for-profit and nonprofit members, try to strike a balance between sharing the awe of Wash more widely & keeping its super delicate environment safe.
