The air was filled with the sight and sound of migratory birds. They land ,and I try to capture them as they surveyed a small loch, my camera lens whirs in to focus and they take flight. This clumsy lumbering human is no match for their grace and beauty.

Finished this in the wee small hours after a sleepless night. My library book group read. Slowly builds up into a dark, menacing, claustrophobic tale.

Och I’m a day late, sorry. Just finished this book which I first read in the mid ‘80’s. I have to confess I skipped over the abattoir chapters this time as well. It shouts of the difficulties of being working class and a creative. I got frustrated by Mat at times, and felt sorry for Helen, his wife.

Picked up at the campsite at Rosemarkie. Been meaning to read for ages as I am drawn to the front cover.

In large print from the library. Desperately waiting for cataract surgery which may take a year, and should have been referred before now. Things could be worse. Thanks to the Ulverscroft foundation for these large print books.
