Each character took up the same space, not like fonts, so it made it easier to read. Mono-space v proportional spacing. When my office work moved to computers the same standards were expected. Not putting two spaces after a full stop would have resulted in my work being scribbled on with red ink.

I find that one is really poor for etymology and always disagrees with the OED etc and uses folk etymology. Etymology Online is better and uses attestations from literature. www.etymonline.com/word/fucker
