-=<{ Generation X raised by Chuck D and Terminator X }>=- Unapologetically feral. I talk plain, it saves time. Spent my childhood a farm, grew up free range in East Side San Jose. No college degree, muscled my way into tech straight out of High School.

I hope there are cameras on it because at least one guy is going to Do What We Are All Thinking. Probably within the first week of the experience...

Few hundred liters of olive oil in our future. Our trees are 4 km from the center of Loreto Aprutino. One of the three cities that make up Italy's Golden Triangle of olive oil production :) It's going to be straight pimp juice.

I had not considered it but mostly because there is literally a Frantoio at the end of our driveway...
The distance between our farm and the facility where we drop off the olives from our trees to get pressed. I can quite literally walk there.

Farmers are on site at the Drift Farm / Fattoria del la Drift They cut back in the groves around the olive trees in prep for the start of our harvest. Clean flat ground will make it a lot easier to lay out the nets / tarps before we start raking the trees.

I'm Gen X they told me I wouldn't download a car and I'll be fucked if I'm not printing one right now. I've seen it before, and I'll see it again... It's all just a little bit of History repeating. youtu.be/yzLT6_TQmq8?...

Despite the exposure showing absolute corruption, abuse, scandal, and tyrannical overreach... everyday I wake up those systems are still in place and those people still exist. Someone show me on the doll how and why the cycle continues when it's clear as day what needs to go away?

Generation X grew up as kids fed the lie that cops were good and there to help you. Our music said don't fall for it. Now into our adulthood we see the citizenry daily carrying cameras in their hands that expose the evil perpertrated by our enforcement class to the world as soon as it happens.

The part where I think your match is hitting the sandpaper and just isn't catching fire: You don't understand that all that water and land allocated to grow almonds could easily be repurposed to grow much more calorie efficient crops to feed many more people. But RZA's C.R.E.A.M is in full effect.

I just happen to also have the perspective of someone that spent decades of their former life inside the windowless boxes developing an intimate understanding of how they function and how much power / HVAC draw actually required for the compute specs. I have feet on both sides of the fence.

We sewed sunflowers this season, and our Olive grove is ready for harvest. Wheat next season. Very dry this summer so low sunflower yield, but that's fine, they're just biomass for next season's crop.

corp.overlords always seem to take getting poached by a competitor a lot more personal and were quick to crack open the wallet and offer up a Pony to hold on to you. In this age of AI don't know if you could game the system that way and I've been out of the corporate life for a couple years.

Protip from the dot.com hell of the '90s and the 00's. Those of us in the same field used to occasionally make each other offers that we could take to our corp.overlords and say, "look if you can't pay me X, they can, and I'm out of here" which usually resulted in an offer-match to retain you.

(shrug) I don't grow either, our farm grows sunflowers, wheat, and olives. I know the irrigation numbers for those pretty well. Almonds... just the number I saw in the book when I looked it up.

yeah we figured out in a different part of this thread that I'm smoking crack and half blind and all I'm seeing is where they sprayed the patina on her costume for the battle scenes to make it look worn. The dark areas line up with how the dress would hang on her if she was standing straight up.

From there I went to Netcom, @Home, Globalcenter, Exodus, Cisco, Google, Synopsys, and these days I run my XR company. Never went to college. A life built on a base of skills that I inadvertently learned as a child with an Atari XL and a 300 baud modem. ...sometimes that child wore a black hat.

I didn't go to college. Between 12~18 years old I learned how the 'internet' worked and how to fix / alt-route around things when they were broken. All just because I wanted to get to my favorite MUD and kill dragons. Gave me skills. Went to work for Hewlett-Packard straight out of HS, support.

Atari 800 XL ~ For xmas I got a 300 baud modem. I begged for it, I was 12 years old. I found my way onto Spies in the Wire, Hotel California, The Well, ARPANET, USENET, IRC, LambdaMOO, BBS'es. A Small group of GenX, myself included, were the first children raised by what would become the internet.

Giving me flashbacks to the instructions that came with the cheap stereo equipment you'd get at the flea market back in the '90s. Stuff where there was always a sports car, a bathing suit model, and a tiger on the box. With a name suspiciously a letter or two off the brand it was supposed to be.

I've been telling people for quite some time that America is a casino. Come on in and give the house all the money you want. But do realize as soon as you bust they're going to put you out on the sidewalk without a second thought. There is no safety net here.

That's why I thought it was a special appliance designed just for her / molded off a cast of her since it blends in so smoothly. I assumed it was some form of non-newtonian / D3O padding.

and now that I look at it again I realize exactly what it is... They used a sprayer to apply the battle damage patina to her costume while she was wearing it. Darker area is the part that was exposed when they sprayed the patina, lighter areas on her tights were covered by the rest of the dress.

Mike @ BFVR Labs @moike.brainfizz.net · 22/09/2026
no, I'm specifically talking about the slightly darker clearly defined rectangular area that goes from about hip to mid thigh. again I'm no expert, could be just some light padding...

that darker area on the tight tells me that they might actually be 'appliances' ... or that could simply be padding in those areas to take hits. (shrug) I'm no expert.
