No problem! I would bring the issue to you on the 18th but I gotta be in Seattle that day. You might find the list of article interesting. I’ll post the text here.

Ha - one more. In looking for the Brain article, I came across this in May 1979: "STANDARD AND DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME" by Bartky and Harrison... The long effort to achieve a unified time system in the U.S. is still in Progress. LoL

My home brewer opinion: Wet (fresh, green) as opposed to Dry Hops. Hops are harvested and hug up to dry before processing in to pellets or left to dry as leaf/buds. Wet means used right outta the field. That season just ended in Oregon’s Willamette Valley.

I’m old enough to remember the Morris Worm of 1988. I was managing two VAXes (VAXen?) at the time, one runnning BSD Unix . But we were on BITNET, so were unaffected by the Worm. (I think the timeline & details are correct!) en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morris_...

That’s part of the problem. As a retired computer scientist, I gotta say voting on-line is a tough nut to crack because of identity management. Peeps clamor for “Voter ID” for In Person voting. On line voting would be harder yet en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Identit...

Right, you can use Your email address to do that, cuz the Company will send a link to log in to that address, etc. Many people think they own one of my e-addresses.

How do people vote in person? Via machine or marking a paper ballot? Are there costs associated with Polling places?
100
JoHN MiLLeR @moduality.bsky.social · 30/09/2026
Oregon has been voting solely by Mail — all elections — for decades. If a ballot gets lost, damaged etc, one can go to the county elections office and mark a fresh ballot there or get a replacement. See Links on my web page. JM

Wow. Now do In-Person - cost of voting machines, maintenance, storage. Some machines print paper for verification that is then scanned. Cost of polling place, volunteer co-ord, etc. With VBM, ballot prep and scanning can be done centrally per county. See essay here dialectrix.com/BLOGGING/Vot...

Very Inappropriate use of this moment in history. Plus IT DOEST MAKE SENSE.

Right. We GET our ballots via USPS, but can slip the sealed envelope ballot in any Dropbox, rather than US Mail. We still call it Vote By Mail (I think).

Correct. 10% of sales is way more than a checkers salary. There are many other bills the grocery pays to be open - electric lights and refrigerators, stockers, meat cutters, produce etc. goods in a supermarket have only about a 3% mark up. Smaller stores ~ 15%, but they don’t have self checkout.

JoHN MiLLeR @moduality.bsky.social · 21/09/2026
The article does not work that way. This is a common mis-reading of it. Elected officials can be removed one at a time, individually, not all in one fell swoop.

SO, just say "Free Speech", or "Freedom of the Press". Sadly, none of these phrases are specific enough for Trump, who needs to be told that he can't pick & choose who comes to White House for press briefing - The independent press corp (whatever) determines that. Trump Sucks bigly.
