Read a wonderful biography of Napoleon by Andrew Roberts, a perfect compliment for my trip to France 🇫🇷 shortly after finishing it. Insightful read with lots of unintended but certainly clear parallels of modern day Bonapartism that are evident in the likes of modern day leaders & wannabe autocrats.

The Bird’s Nest 🦅 🪹 stadium in Beijing, China. It was expensive of course, but such intricate architecture and design that emanated light so beautifully. I was mesmerized looking at it day and night. 😮. A highlight of my visit to China 🇨🇳 a decade or so ago.

My Sunday morning #film 🎥 . Great WWII flick about the Battle of Arnhem. Well worth it just to see Sean Connery share scenes with Gene Hackman, Antony Hopkins & Lawrence Olivier. I even got a kick out of Robert Redford, Ryan O’Neal & John Ratzenberger together, prepping for attack on Arnhem bridge.

What I loved about Tomb of Dracula was that it never felt out of place when Marvel heroes like Dr Strange or in this gem 💎 the Silver Surfer guest starred. It just worked. Tomb of Dracula 🧛 worked for me as a series b/c it was classic anti-hero - you hated him but somehow wound up rooting for him 🤷🏽

I prefer Dick Tracy comic strips (by Chester Gould and/or Max Allan Collins) in black & white. Very nostalgic. I find there’s too much colour when they are colonized and look more cartoony whereas b & w presents more edgy plausibility to them. The characters, as zany as they are, seem more real.
