The shot of Koichi falling to his knees and shouting in anguish as black rain falls around him is one of the most arresting things I'd ever seen in film. Truly harrowing.
Scene from the movie Godzilla Minus One (2023). An injured Japanese man kneels among the scattered debris of a ruined street, his face contorted by a howl of anguish. A black rain is beginning to fall, staining both the man and the ruined city.

By the end of WWII, America was out-producing the axis on tanks at a margin of something like 6:1, and then they were shipping the damn things across an ocean, through a submarine blockade, and across one or two continents. To say nothing of fuel, ammo, food, etc. A mind-boggling enterprise.
An M4 Sherman tank on an assembly line during the second World War. The tank is rolling down a tunnel which is lined with hundreds of infrared heat lamps. The lamps are baking a coat of weatherproof paint on the tank, shortening the drying time from a 24 hours down to 4 minutes.

Rewatched the Blade (1998, etc) movies a while ago and I can't stop thinking about Blade's haircut. It must require pretty frequent touch-ups, but he moves around so much to hunt vampires. Does he do the upkeep himself? Does Whistler trim it? Does he have a barbershop that he goes to regularly?
Wesley Snipes in the movie Blade (1998) as the titular character Blade. A composite image displays his complex haircut from two different angles. The haircut is a widow's peak high-top with a chevron cut into the back with no fade. The edge of the hair in the back and sides is trimmed in such a way that it is incorporated into the design of a large tribal tattoo on the back of his neck.

There was a short-lived animated sitcom about a fictionalized version of NPR's Car Talk called Click and Clack As the Wrench Turns. In episode 1, "Campaign," the boys attempt to do campaign finance fraud by exploiting federal fund matching. James Carville guest stars as himself. I swear this is real

There is of course Cima Garahau, who is implicated in sole very exciting war crimes during the One Year War and after the defeat of Zeon splinters off her own forces as an independent pirate fleet. I really like her, I'd let her murder me.
The character Cima Garahau as seen in the Gundam series 0083 Stardust Memories.
A beautiful and evil older woman wearing a military uniform is holding a large Japanese-style folding fan. She is seating in her captain's chair which has been strapped with a white tiger pelt. She has the kind of menacing energy that could make a fella (or lady) bark like a dog.

There was a really good Flintstones book that DC put out in 2016 (Mark Russell/Steve Pugh) and this was a B-plot in it.
Panel from a Flintstones comic.
Inset text: "The non-breeders have our tribe extra hands to help with the children. Having them around often meant the difference between life and death."

Alan Moore wrote "For the Man who Has Everything," one of the all-timer Superman one-shots. Is it an intimate character study? Yes. Does it indirectly condemn political reactionaries? Also yes. BUT! Do Supes and his pals fistfight Mongul the Conqererfor several pages? You bet your ass they do.

I think Darktide has a particularly good depiction of the bolter. A huge and impractical crate of a weapon. You kind of have to manhandle it into shooting position, it obliterates anything it hits, and it chews through its (extremely scarce) ammo faster than you can blink. Simply too much gun.

Also there should be an Imperial Remnant turned pirate queen Cima Garahau type. Star Wars could use more ruthlessly evil older women. All media could, as a matter of fact.

I believe Dwayne McDuffie passed away a few years back but he was the a lead guy on the Justice League/JLU cartoon. Had a ton of other animation credits, too. No shot he ever got paid what he deserved or that his creations got the limelight they warranted, but he was a big deal his whole career.

There's a model based on McConaughey's character in the Spanish-made SF miniature wargame Infinity. Every time I see it I have to wonder if maybe Reign of Fire (2002) was bigger in Europe than in the US, and I just never heard why.

It is a true genius storytelling technique of Fujimoto's to take the impossibly high-stakes apocalyptic conflict of Chainsaw Man's second arc, and shackle it to two of the dumbest babies ever witnessed in any medium. #chainsawman #csm223

In the first panel, the titular Chainsaw Man (a devil-human hybrid with chainsaws for hands and also a chainsaw for a head) says: "As you become increasingly alone... your heart aches, doesn't it?"
Panels 2 and 3 consist of the character Yoru (the devil Horseman of War, inhabiting the body of a high school girl) reacting with increasing levels of shock and incredulity.

I was always struck with the design of Planet Apokalips. A Jewish WWII vet draws a design for the most evil place in the universe. The epicenter of a cosmic-scale regime of fascist misery. And he draws it with open furnaces so big that they're visible from orbit. Kirby wasn't a subtle guy!

The planet is a hellish network of wastelands and industrial cityscapes. Vast open pits spew out first energy into space.

Text captions in the image:
"Beyond the brittle barriers of sanity there is the planet Apokalips..."
"Here, where even mile-high columns of flame spewed ceaselessly by awesome energy-pits fail to penetrate the eternal darkness, joy is unknown and hope is a capital offense..."
"Here, there is no pride, there is no passion, there is no pity; there is only order --"
