I guess the NYTimes can't print "free pussy in alum pu" (because readers are fragile flowers), but does anything think that describing that Snapchat post as "encouraging [other frat members] to enter the bedroom where Jane Doe was undressed" is an accurate summary of its meaning?

100% The Roberts court, using the shadow docket, just sanctioned the rendition of immigrants to third party countries they have never known and where they will likely be imprisoned, tortured or killed. Fuck John Roberts' vacation. Fuck civility. It's the only accountability he will ever know.

The education corrollary is obvious. Students don't want a lesson plan or feedback on their work if it was generated by a bot. Education is about human interaction.

I don't know whether AI is involved, but the number of scam invites I'm getting from old acquaintances/friends I've lost touch with has exploded recently. And it's always a gut punch because my first reaction is always, "how nice to hear from them!" And then I realize that they were hacked.

The man doesn't know that "to the victor goes the spoils" international law, which very clearly requires that an aggressive victor return the spoils. (Hague convention, Art. 46 - "Private property cannot be confiscated.")

When we visited our neighborhood school when my daughter was 4, every classroom was integrated (the neighborhood hadn't yet gentrified), except the G&T classroom, which was 19 white kids and 2 Asian kids (I counted). I wondered what message was received by the other kids in the school.

The anti-genocide forces have made great progress in terms of lowering public support for pro-Israel/AIPAC forces, but centrist politicians like Maura Healey aren't going to challenge Kraft on this. You're right that structural forces matter, but appeals to the conscience can work, too. 1/

100%. "Liberals" aka centrists like Klein, Leonhardt and Yglesias are still telling us Dems need to be moderate on immigration, not talk about routes to naturalization, only about securing the border. Meanwhile, we have actual gestapo (now with lethal shock gloves!) and concentration camps.

@tressiemcphd.bsky.social 100% this piece. Ken Martin epitomizes the old, broken digital fundraising strategy, while Ben Wikler is the organizer. It was a disaster to choose Martin over Wikler. Why haven't the Dems changed horses? Wikler clearly wants the job.

I don't understand how any elected official who signs an NDA for anything, but especially a data center deal, expects to win the next election. It should be an obvious litmus test for voters - has your representative agreed to keep you in the dark?

2/ So he challenged the Great Neck parents, would you be willing to switch budgets with the Bronx schools, if the spending doesn't matter? Like I said, it's great to have quantitative data to make the point. But everyone already knew it was true.

Quantitative data is great, for sure. But I remember 30 years ago, after Jonathan Kozol's Savage Inequalities was published (in which he compared the per pupil spending of public schools in Great Neck v. the Bronx), when the same arguments were made that school spending didn't affect outcomes. 1/

Remember back in those pre-Dobbs days, when Lindsay Graham (RIPMF) proposed legislation that would require women seeking abortions to undergo a transvaginal ultrasound first? These people enjoy legislating sexual assault.

Doctors say Graham’s abortion ban would force women to have transvaginal ultrasounds
Because Graham's bill would require a doctor to determine fetal age before an abortion and threatens jail time, invasive transvaginal ultrasounds will often be necessary, physicians say.

I think viewers of these shows view the pundits like coaches of professional teams who give each other advice as though they were coaching the other team. Or, at least, that's how the producers of these shows hope viewers see them. But it's ridiculous, as Hamilton makes clear.

The piece makes a great point - these "reforms" require time intensive activities by teachers to be effective. The problem is that rather than make classes smaller, the solution we're being offered is increased use of AI to provide the "individual attention" students need. By a robot.

2/ He's apologizing because he got caught, and he's been caught a few times. Not great. But the Fetterman-esque approach would be to refuse to apologize at all, no? Is it not true that his policies are inclusive? It's the refusal to acknowledge the other part of him that I'm noting, is all.

Guthrie'sGuitar @modernthaddeus.bsky.social · 21/04/2026
If you would prefer Collins to a Democrat - even one as poor as Fetterman - I think we'll agree to disagree. But as herky-jerky as Platner is - and again, my main point is that I don't think anyone can say with any confidence what he'll be like in office - his apologies aren't bad. 1/

I'm really not that interested in defending him. I stopped promoting him when the tattoo stuff came out. It's definitely problematic. I just don't think it's a foregone conclusion that he's Fetterman redux, as though there's no data to the contrary. Anyway, the solution is to vote for Mills?

But so many comments just ignore the OTOH and assume he'll be another Fetterman, calling anyone who doesn't agree 100% an idiot. They may turn out to be right! But they may not! And my understanding of the polls is that it's him or Collins, and is another Fetterman worse than Collins?
