Nearly missed this, high praise indeed. Thank you! Wish I could consciously write like Pollard, his stuff sounds so effortlessly unique.

I totally forgot about that function. if we'd known more about buses back then we would have saved a lot of knob twiddling. And given the zipdisc something else to crash because of.

The words "virtual track" still give me anxiety to this day. As does the thought of that error message with the sad, x-eyed anthropomorphic zipdisc on the led screen. Ill see if I can find that to re traumatise you..(edit, found a pic, I totally imagined the whole sad zipdisc face thing though! 😄)

I never knew that about the Kurosawa link! I remember bringing a fair few cool kurosawa flicks back from laser video where I was working at the time, the film nerds with whom I worked gave me brilliant recommendations that I still benefit from to this very day.

I've rarely ever written a song without some intention of getting you and Steve around a mic for it.

Thanks Wiz! Actually no, I totally stole the title from our Weimar sessions collection moniker, and confusingly made an unrelated song out of it. A bit like how the Beach Boys inexplicably have numerous songs called "Darling"

Downpour! Recorded in 1998(?) on a vs840 Roland zip disk multitrack, with its unique compression that lent everything a brittle avocado green bathroom sound. horns from the immortal qy70 portasequencer with its little rubber keys. Classic early digital era Five-ø. Great Bassline too!

Manys Thanks Rough guess! And hats off to you for allowing a sharp first degree in your analysis (I'm honoured!) something I enjoy nerding out over, and I've never found a better system than roman numerals to write or indeed unwrap a piece of music.

Heartfelt thanks, Negative sleep! If I could only get someone to perform it perfectly I'd be all set 😅

I still relish that 2018(?) Berlin session when we got this beaut of yours down. What get's me it that it's so amazingly prescient about the years that were to follow. Many of your songs have that Soothsayer thing. Which is why your tune 'Living Forces' scares the batter out of me. sl1nk.com/tcbhjnk

I love how you catch a brief green glimpse of Kermit's arse sleeve as he darts over to Price.

I've always preferred his largely overlooked VANTRONIX electro-era stuff myself, MOONTRANCE in particular. Though I may have dreamed all that. Again, the Peat.

Egads! I see, indeed I am a witness to that night having happened. Despite Mark's best efforts I still can't remember a note off the album to this day. Though I might blame the peat bricket for that.

I remember buying what turned out to be a bit of peat bricket from someone answering to the name of Mark Doyle. Might have been that very same night. Didn't he pay Veedon Fleece over and over, insisting we stop talking and listen intensly to his favourite moments throughout?

Beautiful song. You get so much out of the minimal instrumentation. Also you remind me to leave more space to breath in my own songs. I tend to put everything in from the start and leave it there unto the bitter end. Great stuff!

Thanks for listening and for the kind comments. Initially the lyric referred to the big wheel, as one ride ends a new one begins but indeed I liked the fact it cast a strange shadow over the event itself in a subtle folk horror kind of way.

Such a great track. It's incredible how it feels like it's constantly rising over minutes at a time, like a shepard tone or Jacob's ladder. Each time turning the screw a little tighter on the poor guy's fragile sanity.

Thanks so much, Pilfering K. I'm a big fan of bending notes, not least of all because it can lightly grease over my myriad of flat notes on the way. :)

#homemademusic I can't find that one, think I only ever shared it on our band whatsapp. But here's "The day before tomorrow" my temporal sort of folky affair, I intended it to be quite 'Wickerman' at the time but it might have gone a bit 'Oldfield' in the oven. soundcloud.com/thelostapost...

I remember you playing this cracker some years back in my mam's after a few pints in the coach house and I was floored. Still am, the melody on that chorus kills me. Sorry to miss the last few homemades, the new arrival has us run ragged so he does. Ill get back into the swing of tunage soon!

Thanks man, and boy oh boy I missed a trick with 'truly know' (slaps forehead). The triptych of "truly know" "Julio" and "do we know.." would have been irresistible had i thought of it.

I think they made an Abigail movie too recently, thugs unwittingly kidnap vampire child, sort of thing.

Another of your greats, Wiz. I often find myself absent mindedly singing this one, though sometimes I sing Abigail before something feels off and I wrack my brains for the actual name, but because Abigail is now firmly fixed in my mind, I can't remember Annabel. It happens more than I care to admit.

#HomeMadeMusic Here's my slapdash story tune of sorts "Who Knows Julio?" about having a stranger in your social circle that claims to be a friend from the past but whom you all gradually suspect no one actually knows. Will anyone dare to ask Julio directly?.. soundcloud.com/brian-makes-...
