That's so funny, cuz I was just realizing the sp is basically the perfect form factor: controls like dmg/cgb, but folds up for portability, and protects the display when folded. I just wish the hinge allowed it to open up completely to unfold flat like dmg/cgb, but that's probably not a big deal.

P much everywhere I gig these days they just have a rack unit with however many ins/outs but 0 controls and then an iPad, and it's so weird to me to just see the sound guy seemingly playing angry birds in the audience but then hearing the vox come up more. 😂 I'm definitely team physical controls

Well considering that harmonized lead part with rhythm guit as well, it'd have to be, or *maybe* a hidden backup guitarist. Tbh I'm surprised he *can* play to click if so, no offense, but a lot of old-school players struggle with that.

That's wild cuz when you were talking about playing second story I mentioned very similarly fucking up in that game, and having to literally start over cuz I didn't have any staggered saves (always have one before entering a dungeon!). Good luck!

I feel like he's a musical drummer, I just get really annoyed by his massive tempo fluctuations from beat to fill, and the one time I saw them live it was obvious his bandmates did too, they were even more extreme than the studio versions, and I saw hammett giving him the stink eye after each. 😂

Million dollar idea: drawing tablet that has built-in lanyard connecting tablet to pen, out of the box, maybe even no way to detach without breaking something, so there's *absolutely no way* to lose the pen. I suppose if the pen broke then being able to detach to replace would be important, but 🤷‍♂️

And if it wasn't obvious, this *is* a prototype, using proto board and a bread board for the buttons, the final would have a proper PCB and would thus be much smaller, also not 100% on this display, it's much bigger than needed, so to keep the final size down I may go smaller there too.

Oh ok, ya that makes sense. When I think Acapella I think acoustic, but obv that + processing could sound like practically anything. In college there was an assignment to use an Acapella and produce on top of it, but I decided to try to just use the vocal itself only and process to make drums etc

If you're talking about electric guitar and amps/pedals you're more right than you even know, you can get a 1:1 square wave out of electric with the right distortion. I guess at that point it would specifically be additive rather than the typical subtractive but still.

I did consider it, but it's an investment, and I think it might be slightly under capability (my core is not quite hitting timing on the de10-nano but still working). Tbh I have to get better at checking "the numbers" to compare, but also need to work on optimization of my core(s).

But to answer the question, I personally think it's very good for us as composers to stretch as many creative muscles as we can, be it with different palettes, or different styles, to explore and experiment, and see what comes of it. At the end, they all become available tools to use when needed.

I see. And yes, it's a very good question. I find that I am in quite a bubble when it comes to music appreciation. Most of the people I know that appreciate music have tastes that include chiptune, but I do think "the masses" still look at it in a very unserious way (to put it lightly).

I'm definitely hearing some RPG/adventure style music, but with a unique palette (ie instrumentation) to match the unique character designs. Fire makes me think of wooshy noise being incorporated into the sound design, maybe some crackly percussion. Would def take some experimentation to nail down.

Funny enough I think we might've had sonic 2 first, I feel like it came with our Genesis (we were late adopters), but I've been into games as long as I can remember, going back to Mario 1 on NES, though apparently I did also chew on the controller wires... 😅
