Something about the way this text scrolls made me have to put active effort into not busting out laughing

Another friendly reminder that appeasement doesn't work. Being "one of the good ones" and excluding those that you think are less palatable won't make them like you.

Not a bad use for the MacBook! I'd love a few arm apple silicons in a cluster some day lol. Here's a video of one of my older disk bays, this also gives semi-Apple vibes imo..

I slapped most of its ram into my already present Dell r640, now that’s sitting at 256 gigs ahaha

Somehow sitting on 128 gigs of the CL16 3600mhz variant of this, used to have 256 gigs of it. I just sidegraded to a dell rack server but I’m actually afraid to sell the CL16 ram in case I need it. I would not be able to buy it back…

Ended up migrating from that custom built Intel server to a Dell R640. Similar specs where it matters, cool to have another idrac setup. Stability will be nice.

MochaFox 🔜FM @mochafox.com · 09/07/2026

I hate how much AI has inflated the prices of my hobbies, hardware used to be fun, nobody used to want 2 to 3 generation old rack servers.. but this has certainly given me a good time to migrate from running servers using consumer oriented pc parts to enterprise hardware.

MochaFox 🔜FM @mochafox.com · 09/07/2026

I think I am probably going to cash in, at this rate the Proxmox & Plex server alone right now is worth about $2,000, and I am eyeing a modern rack server with the same amount of ram for 700. Slower clock rate but I'm not hosting anything where It would substantially matter.

100

MochaFox 🔜FM @mochafox.com · 09/07/2026

Apparently the model of ram I have in my home server is so expensive / rare it isn't even being sold new or listed on ebay right now. The slower clock rate version of this ram is being sold on eBay for $630 and new for $1,100.. F4-3600C16Q-128GVKC
