And as far as I understand with Netflix, they've been running numbers and believe that there's a standard "fall off" with any show that after the 3rd season, people stop watching. So in this day and age, you should be surprised to see a show ever see a 4th season.

120

Mo 🍀COMMS OPEN!!!🍀 @mo-the-half.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

D: Recently worked on a show that apparently got millions of views and likes, but didn't get as much as like... Bobs Burgers or American Dad. So they shelf it. It's near impossible for new shows to get off the ground now, cuz they don't have large old followings like Simpsons, etc.

110

Mo 🍀COMMS OPEN!!!🍀 @mo-the-half.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

At that point, the show's prior season may have been out for 3 months or even a year. THEN, it usually takes about 6mo-1.5yrs to finish a show to begin production and wrap, depending on live action, animation, FX, actor's schedules, location filming issues, etc.

110

Mo 🍀COMMS OPEN!!!🍀 @mo-the-half.bsky.social · 10/09/2026

D: To give you an actual answer, its because executives now won't greenlight things until the previous season is already aired and has MIND BLOWING numbers.-

:) Happy Pride! Trying to draw the boys more. I've missed them.

A vertical illustration in a 1900's fantasy setting, featuring 2 young men walking in the foreground on the sidewalk in front of a pink Victorian looking cafe storefront. The taller burnette gentleman is wearing a white sailor's sweater with a green tweed cap, with a jacket slung over his shoulder. The shorter man is catching up to him, mid jog, with black hair, a leather carrier bag clutched to his side. The taller man has bat wings coming out of the back of his head, and the shorter man has cat ears and a tail. There are characters in the mid ground, on the left, a woman with a sun hat, a flower basket, white dress, and large red roses for hair. On the right is a woman with trousers walking with a young girl in a newsboy cap.

As a big fan of your work and worldbuilding OC loving artist myself, I think you gotta step away from whatever you're not in love making. Don't touch it, don't look at it, don't worry about it. Between my stories... Sometimes I get burned out and I don't touch OC's for months! Let yourself recharge!
