We had an actual drinking light last night.
Photo of a small kerosene lamp between two cocktails. The cocktail on the right is in a journal glass and has a straw. The one on the left is in a tall-ish rocks glass. Both are sitting on orange napkins. The background is a dome with a center column. It's a dark, sort of speakeasy feel.

I think that's worse, honestly. If only because it (correctly) includes the word "moist".

In July, we released Courtney 50.0. It may not be the fastest writing machine, but it has been honed fifty years of intensive language training. Based on the benchmarks demonstrated by this chart, Courtney 50.0 crushes the competition so significantly that we should have used a log axis.
An incredibly long graphic, using the graphic in the post text at the very bottom (a chart showing Open AI vs Grok vs Fable release date on the X axis, and model number on the Y axis). There is a long piece of whitespace, and then Courtney 49.0 and Courtney 50.0 are graphed at the very top.

Caught the CalFire C-130 taking off from Ramona on Sunday before it headed over to Miramar for the Marine Corps Air Show. #photography #aircraft
Photo of a large, four engine turboprop plane in flight. The plane is painted red and white, and has the words "Cal Fire" on the side. Exhaust trails are visible from behind each engine, and the door to the landing gear in the nose is only partially retracted.

On the one hand, I wouldn't mind seeing this big sucker do a slurry drop. On the other hand, I don't mind not being near somewhere that needs a drop!

Maybe? The one I'm thinking of included a section on how the laser in a Blu-ray player gets the class it does because it's fully enclosed, and how if you crack open that enclosure that goes out the window.

I'm remembering a time when you described what the different classes were/meant, but now I can't find it. Was that on Twitter? Or is my search-fu of your site archive lacking today? Or did I hallucinate this one entirely?

Photo of their prices from this morning: still $8.999/gal for regular. I doubt even the airport car rental stations are this high.
Photo of a Shell gas station sign with prices. Regular is $8.999 per gallon, Plus is $9.199, V-Power is $9.399, and Diesel Number 2 is a whopping $9.999 per gallon. Date of photo is September 28. 2026.

Hummingbirds.
A four panel comic. In panel 1, a rufous hummingbird flies down toward a large hummingbird feeder with as many as 6 holes on top. He thinks "The humans put up a new feeder!" In panel 2, he lands on the feeder and gazes down at it. He thinks "It's huge. Many of us could feed here at once." In panel 3, we see a close up view of the hummingbird, and he's thinking "This could end the ancient rivalries. Usher in an era of peace. Interesting." In panel 4, an Anna's hummingbird hovers over the feeder and says "Hey, can I have some necta-" and the rufous hummingbird says "No."
